I never did watch any episodes from tv.. but as it was supposed to be good, and I like mafia movies, I decided to force myself to watch few episodes.
IT'S BRILLIANT! It's so good!

I've been watching first season, so please don't give any spoilers in this thread!!!! I'm down with 5 episodes, 8 to go with first season, and .. this is just sooo good.

I have to admit I didn't like Gandolfini for some reason in his earlier movies, he did good acting, but was always this obnoxious guy (8mm.. etc).. I adore his acting.

This series has many dephts. On the other hand he's this good guy, providing for his family and trying to look out for his buddies with common problems with life. He is helpless sometimes, and don't know all the answers. On the other hand, he kills people and is mean, cheats on his wife with his girlfriend, like mafia guys do (in movies at least). And that's just beginning of the greatness of this series. I really appreciate Sopranos, and I hope episodes won't get worse but stay in quality like these first 5 are. Do you like Sopranos?
This really changed my view about Gandolfini, I really like him now.

ps. Please don't give out spoilers! I don't want anything to spoil coming episodes!

Such a well done show... I usually hate the mentality of American mafia cinema, but this series draws you in with serious social and family plots. Buy the DVDs and watch every season!

I like this series too. I've seen the first three seasons and I can't wait for the forth season to come out on DVD. The second season got all wishy washy about family stuff but the third season gets back to the mofia basics with lots of people getting "wacked" and stuff like that. It's definately worth renting.

And I didn't mean that you coudln't discuss about the series being too afraid to give out spoilers, jsut don't give big ones like.. mm... 'I didn't like it when tony takes out uncle and becomes acting boss' .. I don't know if this happens, but it would be a spoiler! Well you guys get it..

These mafia movies are usually so one dimensional, these guys being all tough and stereotypical gangsters, whacking people, going to matresses and all that. Godfather saga was different and brilliant, but Sopranos as series gives so much good stuff.. it's multi-dimensionalm and still keeping the stereotypes alive and well and beautiful way. And it's not boring. It's tough to get working mafia movies, let alone series if you try to show it in different light than just shooting all the time. Like Analyze This, Analyze That.. tries to do comedy, has its moments, but is not great. Sopranos is, so far, so great I can't find the right words.

the fourth season has slipped a little bit to give you guys warning. But it warms up in later episodes.

The first 2 seasons were probably the best.

Hopefully, new shows will be on again in less than a year and half. It is between seasons... but it will continue. I hope the writing improves for the next season, and it gets back to more of the original season.

next season will probably be the last.

but HBO is probably offering up big money. Chase says it depends on if there is any creative energy left in the show. I really can't see it going on past next season myself. The kids are getting too old . And the FBI is getting too close as well.

I'm not sure how they will end it.

I think Tony will go to jail though. And Carmella will escape the country with all his money. Although that would put a bind on Meadow's college career. She may drop out of college and flee to europe and do acting or singing or something.

I think Michael Imperioli's character (can't think of name for some reason) will get whacked this coming season. And I think his fiance (I don't think they married yet) will leave him (before he dies) and flee the city because of what she's doing for the FBI.

I figure Tony's uncle will get whacked or die by natural means. Most likely the latter.

As for Tony's sister. I think she will just go back to the west coast or something. I'm not sure what she could do this coming season.

No spoilers please, but can someone tell what's the number of the lastest show that has come out on HBO? I'm just wondering if the HBO episode guide is up to date. I've watched the show all the way to episode #39 on Finnish TV.

3 more episodes to go with the first season.. I could watch these 24/7 and still enjoy it. Though Meadow is kind of young, I bet she's super hot in .. maybe third season... she'd be a perfect draft right now though!

Wow that's her? She really has grown up. But I think she was born 1981? That wouln't make her very young to begin with.. but you can tell from the first season she's going to be a hottie.
