How to see combats in MP (an answer) Tired of ads?

In online MP (not PBEM and hotseat), you will often get a message that your units are being attacked with some sort of bugle-like sound. You are never looking there, so how do you find the combat quickly?

Press 'X' on the keyboard. This takes you to the location of the last message.

As if viewing combat in MP will give any indication on how it's going, or even who won.

Keep hitting 'x' to cycle back through messages. Very helpful in reviewing all the cities that built something that turn.
