Please comment.
Reading another thread, I became interested in what VCs others prefer. I seem to get more cultural victories than any other, which is fine somewhat, because I often don't care how I win or if I've won. What I mean by that is, cultural victory or not, if I want to conquer the world I'll keep playing and do it. I don't forget the Aztec invasion of 3 thousand years ago and I demand payback.
I want to experience every aspect of the game at every level, so there are times I am trying for a specific VC, and at these times I turn some of the others off. However, I am ASSUMING the AI, as each civ, is trying for all the VCs that are on and thus I would be limiting how the AI plays if some are off. So I don't do that often.
My (brief) opinion of the VCs are thus:
Domination: unsatisfying, as I feel I cheated myself out of a conquest victory.
Space Race: fine, but I'll probably keep playing.
Diplomatic: I'll build the UN and make sure it doesn't happen.
Conquest: if I'm in the mood.
Cultural: happens too fast, too often.
Elimination: here's where I lose on the higher levels, but that's okay--the only way to learn how to win is to lose a lot.
Regicide: nice option. Wiped out France in ancient era recently--it regenerated and later became the best of my allies. Never would have happened before PtW.
Mass Reg.: too many kings (but they make good scouts early on).
Victory Point: haven't tried it.
Capture the Princess: why? She'd only boss me around.

Conq is my preference, and my only beef with Dom is that I feel like I should've tried harder if I was that g-d strong.
Still curious--if I turn of Cult, will the AI respond by not bothering to build cult improvements or particular Great Wonders? Or does the AI even pay any attention to what VCs are on? Or off?

Mea culpa. I will try to adjust that.
Vote anyway. I'm really curious.

Here's the prob: can't find names. Who's the mod? Nothing indicates moderator's name/user name in the top left of this page, or anywhere else I looked.
If the great and glorious Mod is out there and looking down, please hear the plea of your most unworthy user.

I try to turn cultural off, but fingers won't obey. Just once I'd like to see the AI beat me culturally. Guess I'll have to move up another level for that to happen.
Conquest w/ Regicide on is cool. The first time that happened, I took out Paris and Joan and watched all the other French cities collapse into rubble. As we had shared a small continent, I suddenly felt very alone.

I like winning by Space Race. Wars to knock over enemy spaceships and espioage to put them back to square one are fun IMO.
