A google search for the game + the word "release" generally finds the release date.

well yeah, after paging through release dates for Sid caesar, caesars palace, etc

but it does turn out that both were released in 1998.

I was thinking a poll of top games released from 19~~ to 1997. I just want to make sure there is enough variety of games between the two dates to make the poll interesting enough. So as of yet, the first date isn't set.

I like those suggestions though.

Maybe set beginning date, to be "the end of the Amiga days", this means: If a game could be played on the Amiga, then it's too old for this poll...

For me the end of the Amiga days was not until 1996. I don't think I'd be the only one who would not have played that many PC games before 1997.

This doesn't necesary mean 1996. I know many games that I played on the PC, during the time of the Amiga, but those games where still too advanced to be played on an Amiga...

TBS - SMAC (and best overall) beats CTP, Imp2. No surprise.

RTS - Starcraft - beats AOK.

RPG - several popular games, but fallout2 beats Planescape and Baldurs gate

FPS - Deus Ex beats Half Life

Simtype - The Sims beats the two city builders, Simcity3000 and Caesar3. But not nearly as popular here as its sales. Hardcore gamers dont like.

Wargames - SM Gettysburg wins - but no other games here (unless you count Shogun) and i gave SMG most of its votes. Not many grognards here? Or not many games in that period?
