I have to know whether any of you have received your betas. It's been a whole week since the first of Microsoft's winners received their CDs and I'm getting a bit antsy.
The main question I'm asking is this: Is MS shuffling its feet because we're not as worthy as their official winners, or did I just put a typo in the address field when I was signing up?
Nony the Inca winner, signing off.

It's here, it's here! I'm so happy!
Let's install this baby!
*one install and reboot later*
Oh... I need new video drivers... Okay, that's not a problem. *pops in the appropriate CD and eventually reboots*
Right, let's do this again! So far so good... Load screen is up, closes down, no message telling me to update my drivers...
Woohoo, the screen's going blank! Only a few seconds now!
*desktop reappears*
Um...
On further inspection, and after several successful reinstalls and reboots, the same problem happens. For a fraction of a second, the Task Manager tells me that RoN isn't responding. That's the only clue I get. The Event Viewer can't even put the error into a recognizable category.
*shakes fist at Microsoft*
Yeah, we all know it's their fault. All of it.

Take your video card back to the original out of the box driver. This is what I have heard has helped many people get their beta to work.

That's exactly the driver update that I did. At first, Windows was using a generic video driver, and that wasn't sitting well with RoN. I put in my ATI driver CD and I stopped getting that particular message. So, yeah, I'm still stumped...
And likely taking up valuable bandwidth for everyone else. If anyone else has thoughts on this issue, would you be kind enough to give them through a private message?
Many thanks.

Nony, try going to the *newest* drivers? That fixes most problems...If your comp was using a "genaric" driver you should get one specific to your card from the cards website. What card you got? (ATI or nVidia i hope?)
