well then one of the bannes was unnecessery....and why were the people banned for so long? anyways......Scrap the upload thingy and only give it to certain people....like for DG`s the president and the VP or something if you want to control abuse

Indeed, the bread & butter of the Civ2DG are the screenshots. We don't mind appointing an 'official' person in charge of posting screenshots. For us this would be cavebear and/or ixnay.

Screenies are good for you, and more than the P and VP can post them. In the RP team of PtW-DG, for example, people other than Togas often post screenies, and IIRC the No Attatch bug is still in the private forums, so you can't have attatchment pics in there, thus you gotta have webspace or Poly Upload.

(Don't trust me on any bug, as I am not a bugtester or something. )

Whats the Upload feature really supposed to do? I've never clicked on it nor have I seen a beneficial reason to do so.

After reading this thread I think we should only give the rights to the persons whom need it, IE: Managers, Presidents, DG's (whatever they are) and VP's (I'm assuming Vice President.) If anyone else comes up with some more examples/ideas then please posts some, however dont go spamming this thread, it shouldn't be spammed but it should be discussed.

Assuming Mark is too busy here to answer very often (banning must take time), supposedly at least one of those banned attempted to upload a .mp3 for personal download later on. If true, this is outside of any Demo Game procedure and is thus personal between the poster(s) and the Admin.

Perhaps a little harsh a penalty for a first and (assuming) unintentional offense of this kind, but not as bad as it seems to be thought by some of you posting here.

Of course this is hearsay, but it might just be true... It at least makes sense.

It is a good feature for the site though, if it can be used without being abused. I'd say lower the amount of space on offer, and make it clear what the consequences will be for any abusers.

I've noticed a pattern of MarkG being tight lipped about things and having that lead to rumors. Inevitably the truth comes out in the end so why not skip the whole song & dance and get right to the juicy stuff?

Hmm.. spambots could really use this feature to host porno files...

What if you set it so that moderators have to authorize people with less than 25 posts... and that people under 50 posts are limited to 2 megabytes (because they probably won't be posting that many files for download until they have played the game/posted here that often)

and above 50... anything goes- until an offense... that seems fair!
