Time Counter Mistake Full PM-box? Change here!

If you go here, http://www.cylusion.com/civ3/counter2 you can see the 'green' time zones. These are supposed to be the times that the teams are supposed to be able to play their turns.

When this game was setup wasn't everyone's time zone taken into consideration when turn order was decided?

If it was; why is it now possible for teams to change their 'green' window? It doesn't make sense. The windows are no longer aligned properly because people have changed their 'green' window. This is causing the turns to take much longer now. I'm upset that people were allowed to change. The 'green' window should've been set in stone.

I know that more than one player form each team may be playing the turns and it could even be different each turn. But that doesn't mean that the rest of the teams should allow this to happen and also suffer from it. Where was there a vote on this, or even a discussion that included members of Apolyton?

Why is it like this?

Suffering from ads?

The green hours are designed to let the primary player for each team to sleep with ease, without having to worry about the save file... The Time Counter is just a fancy addition. It doesn't mean anything, and I don't think it has any bearing on the speed of the turns being played. It's just the same as in the PTW DG.

Yes, Trip is correct. The rule set in stone is that every team must play its turn within 24 hours. No other strict rules are in effect. The timecounter is an extra tool to encourage prompt savegame handling... but for it to be fair, the primary player of every team should be allowed to get some sleep every day. That's what green hours are for... and whenever the primary player changes, so must the green hours.

The recent slow-down was caused by a wrong savegame being sent - just check the timecounter thread at 1BC. On average, one turn takes 24 hours or so, which is the best we can hope for (and actually, anything faster is not really desirable).

Get a bigger avatar today!

24 hrs would be great; but I'd doubt that would happen as the game progresses further. I'd bet around 36-48 hours becomes the norm.

BTW, who was the wuss who brought up the point that the green hours should be set so someone can get some sleep? Sheesh, sleep is for babies (about 18 hours a day)! I say no sleep for the leader's of the teams. They should be awake with their e-mail being checked every 5 minutes to ensure that prompt gameplay continues. I would be willing to grant them an hours sleep, only after they've played their turn and as long as it doesn't interfere with their proper planning of the game's next moves/tasks. No sleep 'till World Domination! Who's going to help chip in for No-Doze?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Man this game is going to take forever, the other teams are so unorganized. Firaxis's team member forgot to attach the save file to the email he sent saying the turn was completed. I'll bet he doesn't check back until tommorow since only one team has their email and so only they can contact them directly. With all the bungles I've seen so far from the other teams, I have a lot of respect for the leaders on this team; good job Consul's
