	Entering the dating pool Inflate your Upload Space

Re-entering the dating pool is an awful lot like being chum poured into a shark tank.

I know you guys don't know me personally all that well, so I'll keep this impersonal. I can't describe myself reliably, in fact the last thing my ex said to me was, "I see a different John then the John you see." So clearly I have no ****ing clue what kind of guy I am.

So, to all the gays and girls out there, what should guys do to improve their chances? Everybody else is more than welcome to comment, from experience, in fact the more the merrier.

What should guys do to be better guys? Or more to the point, what do I need to do to get laid?

As far as luck with the ladies:
Be as good looking as possible
Be as wealthy as possible.

Those two guidelines will optimize your chances. Other than that, be yourself, and hope for the best.

Oh yeah, and if you want to get laid, don't be her whore. Don't be smart, funny, and sympathetically listen to all her stories. Try to imitate the archetypal obnoxious, arrogant frat-boy types you always see. Chicks dig that type of thing for some reason.

It is difficult for us nerdy types to do, but try your best and follow my earlier advice.

College was like a giant dating service so I'm sure you won't have much trouble if you try. Most guys are self defeating; they say to themselves "she wouldn't be interested" when the reality is she is wondering why the hell no guy wants to ask her out. The guy who grabs his nuts and sounds off is the one who ends up with the hot girl.

The only other advice I can give you is don't talk about your ex. That is like hanging a piece of meat around your neck and the sharks will get you for sure. Instead ask her qustions about herself; people love to talk about themselves and girls are used to men cutting them off so if you let her do the talking she will remember it. As an added bonus she'll talk about what she's interested in so when she looks back at the night she'll think about what a great conversation you two had instead of about that guy who kept talking about his ex-girlfriend.

Well, im 19, so i cant explain my friends being the exception to the rules. In fact im the only one out of my close group of 9 friends who is single...mostly because of my self defeatest attitude

Nobody wants to truly date an ******* other than to use him to boost their own status, which people tend to grow out of after HS...

Come on Ashie, this is a truism. Chicks don't like nice guys. Gay guys are different I'm sure, but I am speaking purely in terms of hetero chicks.

I kinda agree with monk. Some girls actually find guys who are nice and sensitive creepy. That is why my previous relationship didn't work out.

The current girl I'm with likes nice guys though.

I agree Apoc, I sincerely wish that guys could be as kind, sensitive, intelligent, romantic, and so forth as they wanted to be. But the unfortunate reality of the situation is that if they do, they will quite lonely until they are about 40 or so. This leaves nice guys \with two unpleasent choices, either pretend to be a jerk, or have a rather lonely existence. There is a chance that they might find a girl who accepts them for who they are, but such girls are remarkably few in number. Ash and MrT report alternative findings, and that is good, perhaps the world is finally wising up. But I would not advise Felch to be terribly optimistic.
