It looks like I'm either going to go back to school or go back to work. School will have to wait until the summer session starts so work it is for now. Are there any places to go to get resume templets or resume set ups to help you make them look all nice and pretty

I just had this done two days ago.

It was free for me at my University's Career Services place. Just made an appointment and sat down with someone for 10 minutes and picked it apart and reorganized it.

Don't know what you could do. Best bet would probably be send it to people you trust on Poly and see what they think...

Should you put and objective line at the begining or not. I know that there are several schools of thought on this. To me unless you can do it the right way using an objective line seems a bit putting off.

Thanks Sloww. So here's another question. I won the customer satisfaction award for the company I worked for. Should I include that? See to me that seems a bit like tooting my own horn. I just usually like to go with where I worked and what my skills are. But maybe that's just to bleehh.

I give name of company.
What they do.
What I do/did for them, along with any significant accomplishments.

One thing I do run into due to my line of work is how do you avoid the "I'm a people person" line.

I'm a receptionist by trade and a damn good one. I've had some very high level position jobs. I was the receptionist for the State Treasury of Texas the whole thing. At one job I took up to 150 calls per hour. And yes we counted. I've worked for 8 doctor orthopedic practice and worked for a very exclusive private club. It's just that everything I do is very people oriented and I don't want to come across as **twist hair** I'm a people person.......gag.

First thing first. If you can, tailor your resume to the job. If not, at least to the class/type of the job.

BTW, how big a break is there between jobs? If it is quite large, you may want to consider a functional or combinational kind of resume.

Nope. Reception/front office dealing with the public is what I do best. I talk good I have one of those personalities that works at a front desk. Very personable and talkative.

There are a bunch of great resume writting books out there. They are totally worth buying and I used two of them to revamp my resume after I got laid of last December.

I got to pick between two job offers so I guess it worked.

Okay, so you may not need to switch to functional resume. Also, I don't think you need an objective section, looks pompous for your line of work. Do include a brief summary near the top. Perhaps a list of no more than six major skills/attributes - like how personable you are
