Play The World Wont Start Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Greetings all....
I was wondering if any of you could help me?The problem is that PTW wont start..The cd loads,the screen flickers and goes black for a while....then....desktop!!
This have to do with resolution I guess and I know the question has been asked before...But I still got the problem.
So...please..anybody...Help me start my favourite game again??Thanx....

Tired of ads?

Have you tried running it in Windows 98 Compatibility mode? If not right click the exe and go to the compatibility tab.

Hey.Yes,have tried them all.Also tried changing screenresolution...
I think its DirectX 9 that screwed it up....
And of course....I have to format the drive to remove it!!Or??

Hmm...damn...Almost hoped it was DirectX9!What can it be then??Do you run in compability mode??Patch 1.14f?

Did a fresh install of Civ 3 and now PTW works!!
I think I panicked there.....

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

What sound card do you have? I got PtW yesterday and had a very similar problem. I found this in the Readme:

Have you tried a full uninstall/reinstall, included vanilla Civ 3? It seems that a lot of the problems people encounter get solved by doing that.
