Does anybody have a clue what kind of attitude should be pointed in the diplomacy answer/requests? In the manuals there isn't much about it, Sakkra's tend to dislike too polite answers or something like that.

If you have the strat guide...at the end of each section describing the races it tells you more or less how you should make your proposals and how you should make your replies to various races (for example-off the top of my head so don't quote me-Argue your proposals with the Klackon, and when they respond make sure you have a Cool tone).

According to the strategy guide (which I do happen to have with me) reason/polite seems to be a good default, but even that isn't appropriate for even half the races.
Cynoid - state/formal or civil
Evon - beg/humble
Grendarl - reason/polite
Human - reason/polite
Imsaeis - declare/???
Ithkul - unknown
Klackon - argue/cool
Meklar - declare/cold
Nommo - unknown
Psilon - unknown
Raas - reason/polite
Silicoid - state/formal
Tachidi - declare/???
Trilarian - reason/polite
