I was in the Apoly chatrooms yesterday some members of the other teams were finding amusement in referring to me as leader of the Whoremongers. They continued to harp on the face that I am willing to sell anything and everything for very small amounts of money.

While this did not bother me, they insinuated that several GoW members found these techniques embarrassing.

If you don't like something I am doing please tell me. I ALWAYS check the team forum before I play the turn to see if anyone has suggestions.

A statement in my defense. Yes, I whore anything available for small amounts of money. I am a firm believer in giving trade partners "offers they can't refuse" and try to make the deal so sweet that they immediately agree to it so as to insure no one else can come back later and convince them to do the trade with someone else. Far too much backstabbing from other teams makes it ineffecient in my opinion to try to hold out for the maximum amount of gold from each team.

For example, GS is the one and only team to have researched CoL. They made 100 gold from ND for it. We discovered Polytheism and sold it cut rate to Lego for 60 and RP for 20. Not only did we sell RP the tech they had been researching for 12 turns, but we got them to relinquish all of their preagreed deals with other teams and BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.

GS got a sum total of 100 gold and convinced ND and RP that they are greedy money hoarders and RP for one has made a strategic goal to find ways to drain GS of their IMMENSE treasury.

We gained a current total of 80 gold and have everyteam we've traded to agree to not whisper its existence to GS and Vox for 10 turns. We now go to Vox and GS and inform them we just got it from a Goody Hut and make them think they are the first ones to be getting it from us.

Nobody considers us to be greedy hoarders, yet we are by far the wealthiest team in the game. We have 342 gold PLUS another 80 gold coming in next turn PLUS whatever we can force out of GS and Vox. We're talking about being over 500 in a few turns.

Roleplay considers Vox and GS threats because they are estimated to have 100-300 gold, yet no one has been keeping track that all of our little transactions have been allowing us to outpace everybody.

Now we stand in a position to land a colony on the southern Ivory. We have a reputation for being mercenaries who go where the gold is. Claiming the Ivory is competely in character for our reputation.. Having more cities to allow us free support for more units also makes sense. We have a good shot at convincing RP that the colony is not a threatening act of war.

I think now would be a good time to discuss how we want to divide up the cities as we should be settling some more fairly soon and it would be time for our members to take over the individual cityrealms.

I am perfectly willing to step down if the team feels I have done a poor job (or for any other reason for that matter).

We also need to start devising war plans for Roleplay.

I have no problem with the excessive trading that we are doing - it improves our reputation. Teams would not want to go to war with the team that supplies them with cheap techs.

About the war plans for RP: I think I will do some forecasting about which turn we would be ready for attack, and which cities we would have at that time. We need to communicate more with ND to see when they would be ready for an attack.

I would rather make 6 deals for 10 gold each than one for 60 gold and be thought of as a hoarding *******. Besides, they couldn't even come up with Glory of Whoring?

I missed allot early on, but over the last week, I feel that you have given my arguements fair consideration and have always explained what I may have been missing to begin with.

I think you and I both know I am not the kind to keep quiet. We have had a few heated discussions over the silly $ game, and I would not back down here.

I do think we can do a better job of sharing information, though. For this reason, I intend to be making up a Thread with one post for each of the different nations. We can all edit it. Not only will I include the Trades, but also any other information we may recieve. You can easily copy in the last PM from any team, or simply send it to me, and I will keep it updated.

I was looking to write a paper for the ISDG, but perhaps an internal letter for GoW would help us out instead.

Sounds good, that is fairly similiar to what I attempted with the Central Trade thread. I would really like a location where all info (current deals/pending deals) for each of the other teams was located and could be updated by the respective ambassadors.

GF, I think that you have been doing an excellent job. The cheap whoring has allowed us to be the tech and money leaders of the entire planet. I have no idea where these allagations are comming from.

On another note, I am still VERY much against an Ivory colony. It won't make any difference what we or RP would say about such a place. RP would come to take the area over and there would be no way we could defend it. The Ivory Colony looks very nice, but I do not think it is a good idea.

Did we learn nothing from Trip and Lux Invicta?

GF - Dont always listen to the propaganda.

I am sure if any of us disagreed with the trading, we would say so. And if any member is giving that type of info to other teams through backchannels, they should speak up in our forum first. It is giving ammunition to the more diplomatic teams and hurting us.

Even within the Intersite Demo Game, they are using our intrasite game as examples of what, and what not to do. The GoW has been acknowledged to "throw techs around".

Do we ? Yes....lets not hide the fact we trade a lot.
Has it been to our detriment ? No

So who cares what they say. Its just propaganda.

Whoring makes life more fun.

I used to drive people nuts playing Monopoly, because I'd get the worse monopoly from one player, the worse end of a cash deal from another, build my Hotels and win, everyone was so greedy they'd fall for it over and over. We're playing with smarter people, but they'll fall for it until we're down to 3 players, by then we probably won't need it.

Ivory - no. I'll bet that our 5 remaining competitors, 2 will be willing to fight over it (more greed), which will cost them more than its worth.

I don't want to start a new thread to say this, so I'm using this one.

The central trade thread seems to still be going on, but gets out of date. If the Foreign Affairs Ambassadors would keep their team's entry updated, it would be much more useful. Please put current deals inside the quotations, and pending/offered/reccommended deals outisde of the quotations.
