Where will we settle? Full PM-box? Change here!

I ask this question to the people of Spain.

My father's line has intentionally placed cities in places where it benefited the security and growth of Spain. Soon we shall come to a time when we shall allow the people themselves to choose a new promising site for their homes. This next turn shall be the last prescribed settler group arranged by myself, from hereforth, I with for the governors of each city that is large enough to put forth the question to their people, and let us once again open our gates to allow a flood of settlers come forth!

Do our people want to establish a city next to the Ivory Plains, where exotic animals live and where a great luxury resource, Ivory, can be found in abundance? Such a city would create great fortunes for it's inhabitants via trade.

Do our people want to move to the Tamali flats where Spices are in abundance? Such a city could also become extremely wealthy from trade?

Do want towns near floodplains or wheatfields where large populations can grow and large families can be raised? Such places would allow our nation as a whole to grow very quickly.

Do we want cities closer to Madrid? The land is not as profitable but being close to our capital means less corruption, more involvement in national affairs and less danger from barbarian attacks.

We should settle in the most valuable places first, which means the Ivory and Spices, whichever of the two is easier to get to. Other nations will covet land with Ivory and Spices, which are so valuable that people will gladly travel long distances to get to them. They are not so likely to covet land which is next to Madrid when there is similar land quite a bit closer to their own civ.

Suffering from ads?

I agree with Sr. Pikesfan. The top priority cities are the ones that will provide us with valuable resources. Moreover, taking control of the places where the luxuries are will surely discourage other civilizations of trying to send a settler there, specially those ones that have maps of our southern lands

Btw, I feel honoured that Sr. Pikesfan has used the name Vigo for the new city. The complete proposal for the city naming of our great country is available in the Map Room

Put an end to popups!

It seems to me the best to first build a city that can grow much and produce much and that is not too far away from the rest of the land.

I leave it up to uour wise Despot to decide where all three conditions are met

He also spoke to me about his wish to serve Spain fron the government of one of the new cities. I'm sure señor Nuclearis Winterius would be a good governor. He has always been loyal to Spain.

Proposal? I thought those names had already been approved by Lord Togas

High production areas are important to settle, should we become militaristic.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I agree that luxuries sites should be our priority at the medium place. Not sacrifice everything just to get that luxuries, but have this in mind and expand toward this areas because they are the places where ND or GoW galleys are more suitable to try to settle

I guess they are most likely to disembark on the west coast,
if they use boats. They have a better opportuity in expanding eastwards into the Lux-graveyard, and perhaps just north of Madrid. Didn't that become a demilitarized non-populating area according to a border agreement, and is that still in effect?

Perhaps we should settle down the westcoast, but corruption will be huge there, for a long time until we get the FP. There are better places closer to our capital, though...

That's exactly what I mean señor Plaguerat. settling too far just to try to grab a luxury we won't be able to defend would be a bad idea. Of course, we must have the luxuries as a goal and settle towards them.

Yeah, but in time as our cities grow we will probably be desperate for those luxuries, but we are not desperate yet.
(Do we play on Monarch level here?) Corruption can be the worst enemy in this game.

Start with the Tamali flats, then work our way through the wheat fields towards the Ivory plains. As Ricardo said we have to be able to defend the lands we settle. Look the ruins to the North, that is what well become of our cities if we do not.
