I'm not 100% sure it's a settlement, but i think it's over the green line, so that would technically make it a settlement in our current dictionary.
My brother is a private and served in the army's construction center, iirc.
But since the army is short on people, he was called for duty.
He is now undergoing training in the south, and will be assigned shortly to guard a small town, a settlement as it appears.
He's supposed to spend there just over a month.
I'm a bit worried. Settlements tend to be soft spots. My mom is even more worried.
My hope is that due to the war, IDF will enter palestinian towns, and possibly enforce some sort of closure. Thus the terrorist bastards will be too busy hiding from IDF patrols, to be dealing with things like planning attacks on settlements.

Why is the army short on people? I thought everybody served over there.

Actually, you will have the reverse effect,.. In fact, Palestinians don't like being restricted and being oppressed in all kinds of ways, just like everybody else on this earth. A closure "could" help, though I reckon elite terrorists know their ways how to get into Israel, just like they are doing right now, don't you think? And they would increase their suicide bombings for sure.
That's the whole problem imo, the more military troops you send in, the more hostile they get, which is quite natural of course! Also, you guys probably never have heard of it but: If you treat your population well, they won't complain and you wouldn't have had this conflict, perhaps how I'm saying this now, seems a bit simplistic, but I still think it's true!
