I can't access WinMX from a certain PC. It says it can't find a TCP???


and asks if I want to use a proxy.

But even when I click yes it still dont work.

it says it remains passive behind firewall.


Any ideas how to bypass this like a big ass gibsonian hacker?

You have to install some protocols from the windows installation disc.

TCP/IP is one.

It's quite probable that any normal Windows box has TCP/IP support... however, could you explain us how that computer is connected to the Internet, paiktis?

I can usually get problems like that working on my computer. But I usually just keep messing around with my settings until it works

i tried everything theres no use.

its either on a T3 or an ethernet.


what the hell do i know of those things.


i'll just look into changing this PC with some other one that can get winmx to work.

What are your the settings of your network connections? Right click on Network Neighborhood, then Properties.

It's quite probable that the computer's on an Ethernet connection if you get to use it and it runs Windows . Anyhoo... can you browse the web on that computer? Can you join the Apolyton Chat on that computer? If you can do both, my guess (I'm not a TCP/IP guru, though) is that the admins of your network don't like P2P software so you should either use a port-agile network or just be a good boy and buy your music at the record store. Or, if you're feeling particularly brave, you could ask the network's admins about proxies for P2P software, but that might bode well for your future possibilities in use of the network...

UR, all the other PCs can access winmx, I got the only one who cant
Thats why I say that maybe I can trade mine for someone else's who dont want winmx.

I can access the net, Apolyton (havent tried chat) and everything else, but no P2P programs.

I have a firend in the tech department and he says he cant think of why this is happening.

What it says is it cant send a signal to its servers through a TCP.


But TCP IS installed, I checked.


Then it says, "winmx running in passive mode behind firewall"....

Well then, make a note of the configuration settings of TCP/IP and WinMX on other PCs, and make sure this one is exactly the same.
