It might be a problem of the game and it might not...

On one of my old machines (win98, IIRC), I had that happen all the time. Turned out to be a virus.

On my new machine (well, I don't use it any more, but it was new), it did that as well, but it was a problem of a different kind. WinXP has problems with certain power supplies, which causes some (innocent) commands to be interpreted as those to shut down or reboot. It is a fairly common issue.

Go to Windows Update, and make sure to download the power supply patches if you haven't yet.

On the other hand, the shrinking of the game window can't be good... I remember you've had other problems with your vid card, so it might be it - the problems with the drivers. Read the beta newsgroups - some of the drivers aren't supported (though they will be for future builds).

I also keep having CTD and hard crashes.. add to that i'm on smallband and i'm effectively out of the beta process.

Still it was good to be part of it of as long as it lasted and i'll buy the game for sure... When it didn't crash it was a blast... but sometimes after a hard fought battle it crashed before i remembered to save... that really are gamestoppers. But i fully expect BHG to fix that.. its great what they have already and the extra month of polish will make sure this will become a classic! (Well for me at least )
