Members of Glory of War
First of all, I would like to say that I am extremely proud to be the newest addition to this great team. Making my decision was not easy, but after being informed of the strategic situation facing Glory of War, there is no doubt in my mind that I made the wisest choice. Be certain that once I am fully authorized (MarkG where the hell are you!!!) I will do my utmost to collaborate fully until the world trembles at the sight of our banner.
During this time donegeal has been kind enough to send me maps and copies of threads which have given me insight on what our current position is. The reason for this letter is to make some comments on them. Of course, not knowing the complete situation I will surely be guilty of making statements which may be incorrect. Nevertheless, here goes:
Specifically I have seen the maps of our situation and read Hot_Enamel's "Conspiracy Theory" thread which I find very interesting, and very alarming. My diplomatic leanings make me inclined to makes some assumptions (perhaps wrong) about the psychology of the other teams. These are:
1) Vox/GS's no-trade policy is a moral point in favor of us. Nobody likes hermit-kingdoms.
2) Being in a war together with ND is a step into ensuring collaboration in the future, I feel they can be trusted in the future (I don't know if they can say the same about us though... )
If Vox/GS intend to invade us, wouldn't they have interest in establishing a presence in our continent? Assuming they do wipe us out, they would surely split the spoils with ND or RP, but it is not in the interests of these two teams to have an offshore power based in this continent as it would be much easier for them to project their power against us with a foothold on "Bob" than without.
So therefore, i think the main issue is that if Vox/GS try an invasion of this continent, ND or RL will be inclined to support US rather than them. I think our priority should be to finish off RP and try to rule the world with ND as our allies (and doublecross them later..).
As for ND, the map and the treaty seem to suggest that they have the upper hand in a way (they get things first and give them to us). I see no inconvenience with this as it is probably seen to them as insurance against our mercenary double-crossing tendencies . That we have agreed to such a deal is one more point in our favor in making them feel we can be trusted (at times).
As for our defense? The galley/blockade seems to be the best possibility. Keeps some galleys on guard to destroy (or at least hamper) an invasion fleet, with carefully guarded shores. We must choose where to fight. This may be difficult as I am unsure of how many troops we can spare from the RP war.
Anyway, these are my thoughts. They may be wrong but I would like to post them anyway and see what you guys think.
