The good old days? Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

One matter has been bugging me a lot recently - and that is the behavoiur or senior citizens.

I've always given up my seat on the bus and been polite to the elderly, yet I've mainly experienced rudeness in return.

When in town the other day 5 old people cut in a queue in front of me at seperate points.

In the supermarket an old lady knocked a load of food off a shelf. I helped her pick everything up and she just looked at me.

Later in the supermarket an old man just barged into me. By this point I was so irate I called him a ****er.

I swear, they complain about the young being rude and uncouth yet behave like this. My friends have similar experiences.

What about you? Am I just being ageist or are old people just being rude?

Old people are rude, though not always, there's plenty of friendly grannies out there...

old people are just old, when they were simple adults they probably were feckers as well, now they're just a few years older... I doubt it has anything to do with "being old"

Its natural selection.

Kind and polite folk die before they get old because they weren't pushy enough. Narked off folk who always complain get what they wanted and live on.

Re: The good old days? Put an end to popups!

One matter has been bugging me a lot recently - and that is the behavoiur of young people.

The other day while driving my car, a bunch of young people ran into the street from out of nowhere, when I slammed on my breaks to avoide killing them, they flipped me the bird... It seems like whenever I perform such an act of kindness I've mainly experienced rudeness in return.

When in town the other day 5 young people cut in a queue in front of me at seperate points, when somebody objected, they beat him up.

In the supermarket a gang of young people knocked a load of food off a shelf. They then proceeded to take whatever they wanted, pulled a gun on the guy behind the cash register, took all the money, and fired a few shots in the air as they left the store laughing at us all.

Later in the supermarket a young person just barged into into an old man who was just walking down an isle. The old man just looked at the young person, and before he could say anything, the young person pulled a knife and threatened him. Later, when the old man left the store, he was killed by gunfire coming from a passing car... witnesses claim they heard somebody scream... that's what you get old man for getting in my way.

I swear, they complain about the old being rude and uncouth yet behave like this. My friends have similar experiences.

What about you? Am I just being ageist or are young people just being rude?

Put an end to popups!

It is a big problem with old people about their rudeness. They've been told for years that they're the "Greatest Generation" and now they expect kindness and gifts from all the youth of the world.

Attention old fogeys:

World War II was 60 years ago. What have you done for us lately?

ban all old people!!

I think it means it is OK to treat them rudely in return.

I give old people respect by treating like I treat everyone else. They should be thankful for this

Old people shouldn't be allowed to drive.
That reminds me of a joke:

Some senior citizens were sitting around a Miami nursing home moaning about their ailments.

"My arms are so weak I can hardly lift this cup of coffee."
"Yes, I know, my cataracts are so bad I can't even see my coffee."
"I can't turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck."
Everyone nods in understanding.
"Well, my blood pressure pills make me dizzy."
"I wish you all would speak up, you know I'm going deaf"

After more complaining there is a pause, before one old dear turns round and says.

"Its not all bad, at least we can all still drive."

I have experienced more arseholeness from old people in Münster than in any other cities I got to know (a few ones, granted). I suppose it is a localized phenomenon : in places where old people feel they can act like kings, more will do so.
Where I live, you can be sure old people aren't arrogant, and say thanks every time I open them the door.
