If I was to make the copy protection I would not ever save the CD-key as plaintext on the harddrive. After all cd-key protection is only effective in annoying those who by the game, those who get an ilegal copy don't need the cd-key (or the CD for that matter) anyway. Rest asured, any game worth cracking will be cracked.
Sorry for my rambling, I'm just annoyed that game producers don't seem to understand this. And yes I have downloaded no-cd cracks for all protected games I have bought so far, and will most likely continue to do that untill they start using non-intrusive protection.
Oh I forgot to say, no I don't crack games and in principle I'm against cracking games, but when I pay for the thing I don't want to be bothered by all sorts of copy-protection related nag-screens, or CD not inserted messages for that matter.
