An excellent choice Habert, but he's already a consul.

I wondered if I should have pointed that out when I got the spellZ for the Single Player Demo game... As it was I thought everyone would have noticed Thud (who, IIRC has had NOTHING to do with the game here) being a mod for the forum the last month.

Dom - I sympathise with your sentiments. Whenever I get involved in some kind of position for a demo game, I prefer to be in an election and I go out of my way to ensure I have competition as well. Ask the other DGers here, they know me too well for saying something like

"Hey guys! Wouldn't it be great if we had, like 3-4 people running for President? That way it would be, like, y'know, a competition? And we could campaign and it gets all exciting....."

I generally end up irritating people into running against me. A few times I have stepped in to where there were no candidates and basically assumed the position, but that is only where there was a job to be done, I was the only volunteer and there were no complaints. This is another of those situations. If anyone has an issue with me becoming Consul, I expect them to take it up with me, or a current Consul, or at least get someone to tell us all, and that way we can find someone who everyone is happy with in representing Apolyton.

In my typical way, I ask anyone else who feels the honour of Consul should be granted to someone else here to nominate someone more worthy. That way we CAN have an election. If not I hope I don't disappoint you all.

Just as a precursor to a possible campaign, I have had considerable experience in running, working within and moderating Demo games here, and from what I've read from nye and vondrack I can do the task of Consul, and do it well.

Thanks for your message MrWhereIsAt.

I guess I feel (like you do) that having an election is always better than just swearing someone in almost unnoticed. Perhaps you, nye and vondrack could make it more official somehow?

Anyway, good to have you, but please do not give me a rough time concerning the Interior...

In order for us to have an election we need to have more than one person who wants the job.

If redstar1 was serious about nominating himself (although I'm not certain he was) then we have the basis for an election poll.

However, if MrWIA is the only applicant for the job then, regardless of his skill or popularity, he will surely be appointed without a vote - and neither he nor the other consuls can really be blamed for that.

I see we have a poll already up now. Considering that of the three people mentioned one has already resigned the position and told us he doesn't have any time for the job, and one may well have been joking about his application in the first place, it kind of makes a mockery of the elective process. However, as I said earlier, a general lack of applicants isn't the fault of the current constitution or administration.

Mwia, I have had something to do with this game! Really I have! Um... I, uh... wrote a lot of the Constitution! And... well... thats about it.

Anyway, I would support Mwia for Consul. If you really want an election, I'll run. Seriously. Togas jumped the gun a little on the poll, as there is, (I think) about 5 more hours for candidates to step forward, seeing the date&time of his first post.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I'm still wondering who all the 89 members (Thud included-no offense Thud) of this team are and why they are not active and do not vote on issues. Why do they join a team if they cannot participate. Is the ISDG:Apolyton Team icon that cool!

These are not meant to be questions for which there are answers. I'm only voicing my opinion that it would be better if we had more 'active' participants.

Like I told you in the chat, it's not how many are active but how much the ones that are accomplish. I'd rather have 20 who do alot that 89 who do little.

Remember the old adage:

"Things are best resolved in a committee of three people, two of which are always absent"

BTW, I would invite people to join the chat since it usually has been only us Foreign Affairs guys and Trip. Many of the things that are decided in these threads start up in the chat and I would personally like more people who are interested in being active to join us in the chatroom from time to time especially people from the MoI and MoW.

I am a member and view the info periodically. I do not post that often as I have a problem posting when I don't have something to say.

I don't know why - call it Poster's Block or something. As the game gets more involved I will probably have more observations warranting me posting but right now everything seems to be covered fairly well.
