Well, Im quite keen on my start, and think it would be a shame to waste it, although I think I would rather start over if we cant find a solution as I certainly wouldnt like that position.
Perhaps we could agree to let you use the save and reload bug to give you some extra turns so you can keep up in the settler race. I would have to insist that you turned off your science and gold slider for those turns so you didnt get an advantage in that way. Im not at all sure if this would work, as I only know of the bug through warnings of how to avoid it. This should soften the impact of a bad start if your second two citys were somewhat better, although you would still be stuck with a poor capital.

Well...here is my start, in all its glory.
It is even worse than I remember.

I could of moved my settler 2-3-4 tiles before settling, but I have no idea what the land is like beyond the visible mountain range.

Like I said, I have recreated this position in the Civ3 editor, and Rome peaks at a pop3.

I enjoy tough starts, but this is a severe hamstring. I guess its a question of if you want me to remain competitive ?

If you decide not to restart, then I will just push on with what I have got.

My vote is a restart.

Just remember...you would all be screaming for a restart just like me if you had this position. These land settings will be hard enough without having a capital who cant grow larger than 3 pop.

What if I start the new game ? That will allow the three of us to play our turns and ensure we are happy, and SirOsis will have his turn already waiting for him.

1 option is that 5 games are started, with each of us having veto power for 1.
I generate 5, veto 1, and send 4 on.
The next player plays 4, vetos 1, and sends on 3
The next player plays 3, vetos 1, and sends on 2
The final player plays both and chooses the best.

That option gives more of an advantage to the first player since he has more options. If we're going to start over, we might as well let each player give a score to four different starts and then use the game with the best score.
Anyway, let's wait for the votes.

I'd go with the restart. I won't be able to take the turn until Mon night. As for the multiple starts I'd rather not do that. If your start position is bad just speak up and we can restart.

Hot_Enamel, what map graphics are you using? I like the sea shelf look.

I would also rather go with one new start, and we can simply scrap it if there are problems with it. I doubt anyone else is going to get anything quite as appaling as hot_enamel got.

I very nearly set the game to accelerated production. I must remember to make sure the box is unchecked when loading the game.

It is quite safe to load it from the normal load screen.

I am in 5 PBEM's for months now, and have never used the multiplayer screen.

It's an old wives tale that you have to use this screen....and I think even more dangerous.

I always use the load screen, too. I've never had any problems and it's a lot less confusing.
