I have had a chat with vondrack about what being a Consul is like. It is as it seems, that he and nye have things very much under control, but are a bit too busy to do things like keeping some threads up to date, and there is a gap in their available times that I can fill (due to my rather different daylight hours!).
If elected Consul, I would be more of a Consul-in-training, doing what vondrack and nye haven't the time or energy to do. I would basically defer to them in matters, especially since I hear they are usually in agreement on how to handle a matter. I would thus endeavour to "learn the ropes' of Consulship until I have hopefully built up the knowledge and confidence of both myself and the entire team that I will be a good Consul. I have worked with nye before without troubles, and vondrack is new to me, but we have chatted and I look forward to working with him as well.
Most of you I know, some I know well, and some I have yet to make a first impression on. Please contact me if you ever want to talk about something or raise an issue. I like to think I am approachable about anything, even criticism, can keep things confidential and I believe that once the team sees me in action that I will gain your confidence.
Hence my election promises speech.
