I tried to stay away from real world historical names, prefering that if we're going to have historical figures that they should be our own: notyoueither, Dominae, E_T, Vondrack, etc.

As for the space shuttle names, the ones I have in the master list of those are AIS Challenger, AIS Endeavor, and AIS Enterprise. The others are either historical references or, too "nice" in meaning to be ships of war (Columbia means peace, Discovery is just too nice for an instrument of a war of domination ).

Basically, the logic I'm thinking of is that names should evoke the determination, resolve, righteousness, and power of us and our cause... and should also evoke our goal: supremacy over the planet. Personally, my favorites for the Apolytonian Empire are the names I suggested for the frigates. Names like Leviathan, Audacious, Ferocious, Relentless, Tenacious, Intrepid, and Dauntless speak of the sheer determination and mettle of Apolyton. Names like Constitution, Republic, Justice, Commonwealth, Unity, Senator, and Consul speak of our system (and belief in its superiority, of course ). Names like Supremacy, Hegemon, Ascendancy, Dominion, Imperium, Authority, and Sovereign speak to our goal, that of global supremacy. Names like Illuminous, Luminary, Brilliant, Banana, and Lux Musae are references to Apolytonian religion... the light of the Great Banana.

As for some cool names beyond those I've suggested for the initial fleet above....

I came up with this fansite which had the order of battle from none other than the Battle of Endor from Star Wars, and the names of most of the capital ships in the battle, both from the empire as the rebels. Some of the names are really awsome sounding so I've decided to put them:
