To instill some humor to the game, I propose:

Protuberance

It probably sounds dirty, but it simply isn't! It is simply describing the geography of the immediate area in GCA, which is hilly and has large mountains protruding from it.

Granted, you can also probably think of it in phallic terms, but we don't have to talk about that...

We will shortly be moving 3 cities and building the rest of the first phase cities (see map at Phase I: Now Until the end of the war for placement details).

We need names for:
New Possum (site #1)
New Nevermore (site #2)
New Cuildo (site #3) - my working name is Barley
New Catch (site #4)
BoP (site #5)
Site #6 (will get us the furs when built)
Site #7 (the southern Silks)

Also, within 30 turns, we will have the settlers built for Phase 2 (see map at Phase 2: End of the War to when the FP is built ). All total, 30 to 31 new cities going up relatively fast.

Get your name suggestions in soon.

--Byrsa (named for a mythological hill near Carthage--good for a hill site)

--Baalbeck (old Phoenician city)
--Arvad (ditto)

And I see that my suggestion for naming one of the NMs "Iarbas" has been ignored.

Normally I would not offer names for cities. but since this game has already spawned some duzies I feel obligated to instill some sanity into the process.

Incredible Dancing Girl needs to get down to work. I offer... Clabber Girl ... A bit dowdy perhaps but most appropriate. The brand name of a significant player in the baking powder space. She takes a kneeding and keeps on rising. Extra credit for anyone who can tell me the company that marketed this little number.

Catchopolis shall not be spoken of again. It is history and good riddance. Geographically, this was the heart and soul of the indian culture. And if our current plans are followed the eventual Palace site for Apolytonian hegemony. I offer ... Indianapolis ... The capitol of the Hoosier state.

Btw, there's no disrepect to GCA. Although there are suspicions of them reloading, nothing was proven, and so far, they had made a valiant effort in slowing our advance and inflict casualties on Apolyton. They had also sprung some surprises along the way, like i. building Great Library, ii. linking up the Iron and upgrading so quickly and iii. despite us killing so many of their troops, they still had so many Pikes at Catchopolis before they abandoned the city.

Let's honor them. Love thy enemy.

Just want to add on my earlier post ...... although GCA has questionable tactics/motivation in abandoning Catchopolis, I prefer to see the "positive things" they have done so far in the War.

For some reason, I would like to see it named "N.Y.E.". Sorta like "N.Y.C.", but reminding us of our Mother Hen that has been taking care of this team for almost a year now. I perhaps better than others know how big a feat that is.

I can't think of a good way to memorialise the only person close to me who rates it. The name is not as lyrical as Karina.

I don't have anything against DarkCloud. I know he has contibuted to Apolyton's site in general, but he has not contributed much to this game. He was here ealy with stories, but that soon disapeared and he has not really been heard from since in this forum till recently. He may have been a "lurker", but that's not the same as actively participating. People like MZ, Togas, WB, ET, H_E, ect... have contributed directly to this game and should therefore should be recognized in it before DC is with the naming of a city.

Again, nothing personal against DC. Contibutions to this game should get you recognition in the game, not just your contributions to Apolyton as a whole. Just my 2 cents...

Doesn't bother me that much

I sort of like the abbreviation however (Since it recalls the American Capital and New York and consul notyoueither in the same breath )

Conversely, it could be also called "Notyoueitheristan" just as another idea...

But, do whatever you will. I had my unit, (even though it seems to have suffered harshly at the hands of barbarians) so I'm satisfied.

I know I haven't been able to participate in the direct running of the game (since I don't even own Civ III- 'horror of all horrors') and I seem to have missed the 2 or 3 chats I tried to make so It won't bother me if you don't call it NYE DC... since, as bigfree1 notes, I haven't been as involved in the game as some others...

And to explain my absence... as I explained in another thread:

"I was busy writing a novel that you may or may not see on bookstore shelves in the next two years keep your fingers crossed... I just have perhaps a few more scenes to edit, then I'm done... (I probably shouldn't be "wasting my time" online right now- but eh. I needed a break"

DC (and anyone else), the chatroom is open 24-7. Someone is always in there.

I do hope that you can atleast update your original story a little bit, It was really good. But I also understand the need to work on things that can net you $$$$....
