	Denmark's last stork Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

This week saw the arrival of a popular summer guest to the town of Ribe in Southern Jutland. The nest on the old Town Hall was occupied by a lone stork and the people there now anxiously await whether it will be joined by a mate.

In 2002, the nest in Ribe held the country's only stork couple, but unfortunately they had no offspring - for the first time in 500 years in Denmark. Hopefully they'll have better luck this year.

Yes Azazel, the hard times for the stork is caused by the decline of available marshland. 50 years ago, there used to be storks on every other farmhouse rooftop.

And they didn't even have proper webcams back then.

I am just addressing a specific problem.

In short, refill the marshes. We had a marsh here too, and then we drained it to clear the land for agriculture. the land got dry. now the marshes are partially restored, the agriculture has benefited, storks have a place to rest on their journey to africa, and water buffalos roam there.

Efforts have been put into preserving and restoring, among other things, feeding grounds for storks this past decade or so. The trouble is, it takes time for storks to return. We're in the very Northern part of where storks like to spend their summers...

First priority is we'll have to get a girlfriend for the one we have. I bet it gets lonely up on that roof at night.

We have a funny situation here in my neighbourhood (Croatia btw)

Swans from somwhere in the north (north pole?) go somwhere south (africa? south pole?) but they stop to rest a little in a small marshland here and people feed them and so we have 30-40 not so bright swans here every winter.
