Okay, I finally broke down to start a MOD job on 'poly. The thinking behind this NES is to bring storytelling back to Never Ending Stories. Let me say now, however, the purpose of this NES IS to win.
So how does making it a game bring storytelling back to Never Ending Stories?
Well, in this game you gain story points (SP) for the following things.
1. Best post of the week. (basically, whichever post I like the most will get 2 SP)
2. Funniest post of the week. (self explanitory, 1 SP)
3. Best diplomacy post of the week. (If an alliance is hammered out with one side being exceptionally eloquent, that side will get 1 SP)
4. If one nation completely destroys another nation, they will earn the SP of the destroyed nation, as well as the SP of the allied Nations.
5. Other points will be given as well, those are just the guaranteed ones (as long as relevant posts are made at least.)
SP may be exchanged for the following:
-No Misfortune 10 SP (basically, no matter what you do, your economy is prosperous and your people love you for 7 days, be forewarned however, if you do not restore things to acceptable levels before time expires, you will get a civil war, or defection to another nation.)
-Upgraded Army/Navy 2 SP (Raises the size of military that your nation will support for an extended period.)
-New Weapon 2 SP (Allows you to create a UU which is better than the standardized unit of that type (Land, sea, etc.)
-Be Creative (come up with something I like, you may just get it.)
This NES will have a news update at the end of the week with the SP distribution post. This will include internal and external News for each nation to best level the playing field.
If you don't like the effect the News update has had on your nation, you may use SP to allieviate the problem, amount will be determined by severity.
The year is 1900, every day is one year.
After picking your country, you must post at least a paragraph describing how it got in the position it is in (i.e. What happened to cause the North African Union?) These will earn your initial SP.
Listed Army and Navy sizes are the maximum the population will currently support, to enlarge, you must earn SP.
How do I win? You may ask, well, for me to declare a victor, an individual nation can:
-Conquer the World without killing the NES (VERY HARD)
-Earn 100 SP. (Moderate)
-Conquer 1/2 the world through diplomacy ONLY.
Alliances can also win, they must do the following:
-Conquer the World using only diplomacy. (VERY HARD)
-Beat all other nations into submission (Easy sounding, but representative governments beware)
-Earn 200 SP among alliance members. (Easiest route by far)

Emperor Alexander Jorgensen I of the Glorious Empire of Denmark died at the age of 68 years old, his son, Gustav Jorgensen rose to throne with the title of Emperor Gustav Jorgensen I.
When in 1865 the Kalmar Union was re-signed by the Royal Families of Sweden and Norway and by the only 33 years old Danish King Alexander Jorgensen, The Kingdom of Denmark reached great prosperity, it was the age of the Industrial Revolution, and the Norwegian big Iron and Coal sources became crucial in the struggle for prosperity of Denmark.
In 1889 the Repubblic of Finland, fearing an attack from the Czar asked for protection to the Danish King, the Finnish Repubblic became a Danish Vassal, and it was just a matter of time until Finland was incorporated into Denmark.
In 1892 the Big war against Russia started, Russia vs Denmark and most of Europe, the Europeans managed to drive back the Russians to Moscow, while the Danish captured Murmansk and Navaja Zemlja.
Once the siege of Moscow done by the Europeans ended, the Russian Government collapsed, allowing Europe and Denmark to annex the territories they controlled.
Than there was the big British Depression, the London Stock Exchange collapsed, and the British Government was in need of money, many money, Alexander Jorgensen knew this, and offered some money in exchange for the control of Canada and the Northeastern Islands, it was a ridicule sum, but the British had to accept, or they would have collapsed and lost all their colonies.
Many things happened in Denmark in only 35 year of rule, Alexander managed to create from a weak and small nation a big superpower, similar to the what was once the Viking Empire.
Not it was Gustav's turn, he was well known for his brain, and a great future was open in front of him.

After the war with Russians, the Dannish tie to their American colony grew lighter. Concentrating on the growing responsibility of the newly conquered Russian lands, the Dannish reluctantly withdrew forces from their New England colony.
This is when the colonists took action. For yeas they were planning their division from Denmark, and were now only waiting for the right time. The prime leader, Jefferson Davis, quickly took action upon himself to design every battle location and hwo it was to happen. The man was a genious. Only loosing small, useless battles, the United Liberation Army (the army of colonists) fought their way to freedom.
The battle of Little Horn Park alone saw four thousand Dannish casualties, while the ULA suffered only a couple hundred. Soon the Dannish were driven off the land, and they pursued to "hit and run" actions from their naval superiority. The ULA severaly needed help, without it they risked another invasion.
Britain at the time was not a fan of the Dannish at all. Rivaling it for centuries, the British finally found the moment to where they could cripple the Dannish and show their weakness to the world. Repainting and putting new flags on the ships, the British secretly gave many ships to the ULA, which in turn used them to defend their shores successfully. The Dannish finally signed peace under the Treaty of Washington, effectivly ending the occupation of Dannish troops in New England (yes, wierd name for the history, lol).
From then on, the ULA was renamed to the United States Army, and the country became known as the United States being a beacon of democracy and freedom. It wasn't long before the people became widely interested in expansion into the west. What they did not know was the German borders already reached the Appalachians, and expansion was not possibly without war.
And so war it was. On June 7, 1810, the United States declared war on Germany in response to their declining to sell the lands to the Pacific. The Americans, under President Abraham Lincoln, quickly beat the small German garrison inside the huge colony, and sued for peace. However, the Germans were not content with this peace. Their army had just embarked upon the voyage to America, and used the excuse of not being able to call them back. The Germans landed in New York, April 4, 1812 and completly overran American defenses in northern New England. They were on the move, and German victory looked eminent.
The United States was again in need of a strong ally. They pleaded to Britain, who complied only for the promise that the US would release its lands in the Carribean for their aid. It was a deal, and the British used the Royal Navy to cut supplies to the German forces.
The Germans soldeirs then began to feed and equip themselves from the land they conquered, but the citizens soon rised up, and with the help of the US army, effectivly destroyed the large army. The United States and Britain had won the war, and the colonies were soon handed over.
The next century brought huge prosperity to America. Hueg industries popped up along the Mississippi, and the Gold Rush in California were only a few things that brought all eyes on America and its economy. Soon, the economy was world class, and the new President, President Robinson, promised to reign as the best president since Jefferson, in the year 1900.

Didnt know I had Japan, lol. In the time where America was prospering (from 1812 untill present), this happened:
During the naval expansion in the Pacific, America encountered a different people on the islands of Japan. These people, known as the Shoguns, presented to be peaceful and loving. Gifts were given to America in return for technology, and economic aid was requested, and given. Soon, Japan was all under the Shogun rule, and seemed to be loyal to the United States.
However, on January 12, 1876, a Japanese battleships entered the San Francisco port in California. Claiming to be visiting, the battleship soon opened fire upon a hotel in which President Moroson was staying at. The President was killed, and the Japanese Battleship sunk. This brought war between the US and Japan.
American Pacific Navy, already conducting excersizes near Japan, got the order to bomb Tokyo, or Edo then, harbor. The only thing that stayed in the way was the whole of the Japanese Imperial Fleet.
The American fleet, only 39% of the entire American Navy, attacked the Japanese navy near Tokyo harbor on February 7, 1876. The battle was known as the Battle of the Pacific. The Americans were surprisingly victorious, sending the Japanese navy to the bottom of the ocean. The reason for victory is believed that the Japanese had too many battleships and were too slow at maneuvoring. The American navy then entered the Japanese port, and leveled the city.
On May 20, 1876, the American army divisions 12, 14, 101, 19 and 102nd divisions entered the Japanese harbor and Tokyo, under control of the American navy. From thier, American completly occupied the islands relitivly easily, most Japanese giving up to the superior forces.
The Treaty of San Francisco effectivly ended the war, and the Japanese empire.

He stood at the helm of an Empire.
Hernando Gonzales knew that his easily surpassed most of the other nations in size. There was no question, but size was not power. And in that his nation was virtually bankrupt.
Following the mexican American war the Mexicans had turned south, devouring the United STates of Central America and several smaller nations in northern South America, Brazil had likewise conqured, crushing Bolivia, Argentine, Chile and the other nations of South America.
The Act of Union had joined them into the Latin American Empire, but Britain had objected to their stealing the name 'Act of Union' froma Britishact and from the BVI a swarm of British secret agents had descended on what had once been the USCA, swooping down and taking the land, causing disunion and retaining the title of their act.
They sold the land to the highest bidder, who had happened to be Germany. The Germans held it to this day, and Hernando would never forget the pain in his fathers eyes when the land was auctioned off..... but this was mostly because he had never seen it, he had never known a father, having been born by.... disreputable means.
Anyway, so here they were, standing in Mexico City, capitail of the Latin American Republic, they had been forced to surrendur the 'Empire' title by the peace with Britiain.
Hernando was very excited, for reasons noone really cared about, but in the end the product of this excitement was a message to the German chancellor:
We are all in a very jolly mood and would hate to be cross and call our solicitors. So be a good chap and give us back our land, we wouldn't talk like this but terms being terms the peace laid down that all official missives of the empi.... Repblic be written in the Queen's language, rather than the 'Bloody wog language' of Spanish. So we do request that you be good and all or else we should likely end up in dissagreement. Which would be bad.

Russian Forces set up camps in Germany to house the Refugees noting that unless Germany can pay for the well being of the Jewish people, the casting out of Jews will be viewed as a malicious act against an entire race, and Russia will take up a hostile stance.
French citizens, angry at Germany's expulsion of their favorite food critic have launched a food strike, no frenchman will sell or distribute food to non-frenchmen until the Jewish critic and his people are allowed to return to their homes. This strike has spread to the U.S. where high priced fancy restaurants have closed, forcing the wealthier citizens to eat at local pubs.

In Germany, a new machine gun was invented, boasting the world record highest rate of fire.
In North Africa, elections were held, Robert Marley of the Africa Unite Party won in a landslide victory. The African Union asks that the British allow self determination to southern African tribes.
In the U.S., French Immigrants are demanding the U.S. do something about the situation in Germany, however there is only like 12 thousand french people, so they don't have any significant impact on voting. U. S. is likely to do very little.
In China, hundreds of thousands send a polite letter to the leader asking for some damn money.

The British Empire was founded in the 16th century by our glorious Queen. It was from here that Britain annexed, virtually un opposed, the entire north American continent. With the exception of a few French towns here and there that were eventually ceded. Britain had no desire to prove anything else and had ceased all expansion when those bloody rebels down south began acting up. Obviously we sent the King's finest down there to teach them a lesson. But we soon realized a bunch of know nothing Yankees were of no use to the empire anyway. Besides we had the northern half of North America. Thousands of loyal subjects from all over flocked to Canada and helped to found some of the empires major cities. The empire had been dealt a crushing blow and sought to reclaim their glory by destroying other primitive empires, as only England can. Armies were sent the world over and soon we had land in 5 continents across the globe.
-Africa fell quickly. Working with other free African governments we soon gained much of the continent and used the coast to further trade. India was conquered by the Crown's armies and puppet princes were put in place to keep order. But the Crown collects massive taxes and takes resources aplenty from our "jewel." Australia remained unclaimed and unused for centuries after our explorers had claimed it. Once gold was discovered thousands of British and Americans flooded Australia and gave birth to the new British Empire.
The Crown had never owned anything else. It wasn't until the 19th century, after the defeat of Napoleon, that we gained the Spanish and Portuguese crowns respectively. Portugal was forced to sell its colonies as their last sovereign act, but Spain's were simply absorbed into the Empire. With America's help, Britain gained all of the Caribbean.
The Empire was seemingly perfect, until a major scandal in the house of commons exposed hundreds of frauds and traitors. The scandal forever disgraced several parties and caused a collapse of the British economy. Many colonies declared independence and began to fight Royal troops. An emergency loan from Denmark proved helpful in gaining them back, but Canada, our true jewel was lost forever. Two million refugees flocked to Newfoundland where they sought protection in the Empire. The scandal has caused our government to try and restructure itself, until then all of our power has been placed in Her Majesty's care.
She is continuing friendships with Mohammed's empire and America both long-term allies. Germany will not pose a problem as our Royal families are so united by marriage it is almost like German is a second language among the Family. While we are most gracious to the Danes for their help, we feel that they have been paid in full and no longer wish to continue an alliance. we have even begun a top secret project to marry a British princess to the heir to the Swedish throne and help them gain their independence. Currently we are suppressing several rebellions and are in a very tense standoff with China who has burned our missionaries and forcefully taken some Islands in Asia. The Queen has vowed no to go to war with anyone until the new government is sworn in.

Onboard USS Herald, A Battleship in the North Sea
Admiral Livington held his goggles to his eyes. It looked that a full German fleet was in the distance, almost doubling that of his Battleship fleet. Just then the radio crackled on in the control room.
"USS Herald, this is Washington. We have some urgent news. The President has just declared war on the German Reich, as all of New York now lays in ruins from a naval blockade. President Robinson has issued the order for all naval vessels to return to the States, taking out any German fleets in the way. Do you copy?" The hearts of all the sailors who heard this quickly dropped. They new they were about to meet against an enemy almost twice the more numerous.
The huge 18mm guns aimed at the horizon, off into the shadowy figures. Fring the gun, the battleship rocked to the side, waves lapping against the steel hull. The sister battleship also fired, along with all the destroyers and support ships. The American tactic was to destroy without taking a hit, and so a pre-emptive strike was needed.
After close to three hours, the two fleets were battling it out in the darkness of night. The Germans taking a huge leap in the begining by sinking USS San Jose, the sister ship to USS Herald. However, the superior technology of the guns on the American destroyers easily made up for the loss of the first capital ship, abd sunk most of the support vessels for the Germans. The German battleship and what was left of the cruisers retreated from the battle.
The Americans were victorious.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE SUNK A GERMAN FLEET?!" President Robinson yelled. He just had gotten word of the American victory in the North Sea. The Germans were outraged. They have heard of small skirmishes on accident out in sea, but nothing like the full-blown battle that happened.
"Who gave the order for the attack?! We were the aggressors, right?" The President demanded a quick response.
"Yes, Mr. President. We have heard of a pirate fleet in northern Europe, somehow getting radio frequencies and broadcasting fake news and orders."
"Ahh, the Neo Vikings, I have heard of them. Well, I will aplogize myself to the Germans. By the way, what did we loose?"
"Sir, the fleet lost a battleship and twelve destroyers, along with a dozen other vessels." A thin grin spread across Robinson's face. "At least it wasn't a loss."

May I express our complete sorrow from what happened. Unfortunatly, there seems to be a rogue fleet, and had broadcasted to the American fleet of a German-American war, and gave orders to the fleet to attack. I am sure we can work out a deal of compensation for this atrocity, and join forces to rid the world of this rogue menace.

"Dear Sir and/or Madame,
It is the cordial wish of the Latin American Republic to inform ou that we have been insulted by your late notice. It was quite well done and all, but i fear that derrogitory remarks concerning the national way of life will simply not go unnoted. As it is we are bloody angry.
Poverty is a perfectly viable form of life. I personally enjoyed it while growing up with my mother and assorted 'fathers' (Few of whom I remember well, but many of whom voted for me). We people of Latin America have quite chosen our walk in life. We find starving slowly to death a perfectly acceptable past-time. I would invite you over for a game of 'Fast' but I fear you would loose, being a pampered limey and all.
No, you expect food every few days, we have no such talk here, when I was growing up we ate dirt and bloody well liked it very much thank you very much sir, I noticed you stole a blade of grass, may we split it, yes i suppose i did deserve to be kicked to the floor and spit upon, I know I shouldn't have even asked, thank you for the spit.
So you see, we are quite happy here. We thank you for it all, we understand the whole 'Strapped for Cash' bit, if anyone would, Brazil is even now asking for a new railways.
Maybe you had something going on with the sell our soul bit, are the Germans still buying?
