How many cities does GS have? Suffering from ads?

So - anybody got any guesses. I suspect they have been down there rexing like crazy - and nathan is very keen on an early granary.

So we have - or had seven cities. Lego is probably a better barometer, although they apparently got a settler or two from goody huts. I will try and find out from vondrack.

My guess is 10 or 12.

The reason I ask is to have some idea of how many we have to take out before we seriously impair their industrial capacity.

Well, I would say that taking half would definately "impair" their industrial base!

But on a serious note, I understand your couriosity Beta.

That is sort of the number I was figuring on too. I am trying to figure out how far we push our first rush - before we stop - catch our breath - and re-inforce and push on. Or does the first rush go as far and as fast as it can? No let up.

I see two likely scenarios:

1. we may catch the first couple of cities only moderately defended. GS may not have realized the magnitued of the attack. So we take out two or three - and then we will run into a counter-attack which would be the best way for them to counter immortals. Another good reason to have spearmen to 'soak' up the attack.

2. they rush defenders to the front as soon as they get wind of this. This would be my preferred option. And is one of the ironic advantages of them having a couple turns notice to prepare. Catching a big chunk of their military in the first city - when we show up with 15 immortals on the mountain, will only be to our advantage. Only swordsmen will have an OK chance at counterattacking, and we should be able to take out whatever is left.

For #2, I like the idea of landing a few units on the east coast, and an early movement by spearman and maybe one immortal into the mountains around Dissidentville. Those will be the first troops they will see - and with any luck they will chuckle to themselves and figure we did not bring enough weight to the affair. An early under-estimation on their part could mean a world of difference. No rushing of walls or units.

It may also be a good reason to keep GoW in the background until the main immortal force hits them. Complete shock warfare. No longer Vox's feeble efforts at war, but a BIG force of Immortals supported by GoW.

Like all plans, we will have to make some of this up as we go along.

Guess this is turning into a bit of a strategy thread.

True and I agree Beta but remember - The best laid plan only last as far as first contact with the enemy. So after our first "invasion/push," I concur, we'll have to adjust accordingly and "make-it-up" as we push further.

the way I see it is the longer they have to prepair for our assult the harder it will be. they know we have a strong Military compaired to them. So once they know we are coming, they aren't going to take us lightly. I don't think they will underestimate our force. they know we have been building up to (as far as they know now) go back onto BOB.

Put an end to popups!

As long as we have enough units to provide defense to conquered cities and an attack force, plus enough Immortals in the attack force to continue to do serious damage to the enemy, then I say we push forward. I don't think we can plan much more than that because there are too many unknowns: number of cities, size of cities, layout of cities, terrain, location of resources, makeup of their military, etc.

Of course, the unknown works for us to. They may or may not know we do not have horses. They know we will most likely attack with Immortals as that is our most powerful unit. They do not know how many we have or where they will be coming from (we need to take out those warriors while revealing only a small force). They do not know where the attack will come from. In their position I would guess the attack will come down the mountains since it does not affect the movement of the Immortals, provides more visibility, and provides protection. I would place a couple of chariots in the desert between the mountains. That would give them eyes to see what is coming down the mountains while maintaining a protective distance from the enemy. Once I know what and where, I would place spearmen in key positions in the mountains to either extract a heavy price to get through them or to force the invasion force off the mountains.

So, how do we keep GS from seeing what is coming down the mountains before it is too late? This is where it would be nice to have some horsemen, either our own or from GoW/ND. They could be spotters on the sides of the mountain and could ride down into the flats to take out chariots that could be watching.

Would there be any way to create a diversion...? Attack with a couple of Immortals and spears at one end of the empire and then bring the main force the next turn at the opposite end? This might catch them unbalanced and make the victory easier for us?

More to come later...

Kon - Good idea but unfortunately no. When you see the screen shots you will understand why.

What the plan does involve are galleys going down each coast to stretch the defence and hopefully find some tragets of opportunity - such as an iron supply, a key road, or a weakly defended city.

yes, this is not possible. We don't share a large enough boarder to make a diversion.

Ok, thanks...

I think we must identify our main objectives when we will go to war (i.e. resource, city, havoc and destruction, etc...)

How far are we from D-day?

Get a bigger avatar today!

I think our objectives should be:

1. Cities
2. Resources
3. General havoc and mayhem

EDIT: 4. Oh yea, and the assimilation (destruction) of GS

In that order.

Do we have the map of their territory...?

[Reads thread title]

OK, probably not...

In my previous post, I meant which cities in particular, but given the fact that we don't know their territory, it will be difficult. I then agree really much on the order said by Witt (i.e. Cities, Resources, Being evil...)
