OK, turn 31 played:
1) the hut was a standard ISDG hut, full of angry barbs
2) Wbigfree can see coastal waters extending further westwards
3) a problem with the worker emerged
As for the worker:
It somehow slipped everybody's attention that mining has been finished last turn and that the worker needed a new assignment. The original MoI schedule assumed we'd move him 333 from Apolyton (to the shielded grassland), probably assuming we'd be having guards enough by this time. Unfortunately, that's not the case. We would be moving the worker with no escort right next to FoW. Plus, there are barbs not so far away from there now. Such a move was considered too risky...
So, I came up with a plan, which nye agreed with and all the guys present in the chatroom (Trip, WhiteBandit, Master Zen) supported, too. We moved our worker to the forest adjacent (SE) to Apolyton, intending to order him to chop it down. This will allow us to:
1) cover him with Theseus (Poly garrison) at least a bit
2) insert 1 more warrior into the Poly build queue now, easing our stretched escort forces
3) still get the settler at the same time as originally planned
I just hope Dominae will not suffer a heart attack seeing amateurs meddling with his plans...

The unlucky Barb pops can be blamed on no-one. However, there was a risk there, which some pointed out, but no one took heed. Perhaps nye's "better safe than sorry" attitude should actually be put into practice.
On my part, I assumed (wrongly) the the Ministry of War would simply "take care" of all these things, given the tools I provided. Obviously this was very difficult to do. I'm still not sure why we're now in this situation, but I'll take responsibility, as I should have worked more closely with Trip in the past few turns.
As for the proposed economics change, I must say on first glance that I'm not at all happy with it. I would have expected a change that would not differ too much from the suggested queue (such as going for a normal Grassland or something).
Anyway, what's done is done, I'll see what I can cook up later on today. Maybe things will work out fine and I'm just agitated for no reason.

Well, we hoped that this would actually be a change as small as possible, given the situation. We insert 1 warrior (-10 shields), speeding up the following settler with a chop (+10 shields). The result is that we will have a settler ready with no delay, while getting a military unit we urgently need to protect all our valuable assets (2 cities and a worker = 3 units total needed), while not giving up on scouting (currently 2 units). There will still be one forest left in the Poly radius, in case we need to work a 1F/2S forest tile.
The only drawback will be if we seriously need the last unimproved bonus grassland mined and roaded soon... but we should be able to improve it with the delay of 6 turns max (8, if we road the cleared forest tile...).
Anyway - given the situation, it was dangerous to follow the original plan, possibly resulting even in the loss of our worker. Thus the decision.

vondrack, the Turn 31 link in the Turn Reports listing thread (not sure what it's called) points to Turn 20.

Dominae, you really should attend the chatroom a bit more often. That way you can possibly be present when these things come up. Or you can talk realtime with the MoW about things.
