ah. . . yeah. so here's a situation for you.
roommates (both stationed overseas) girl. roommate #1 has a girlfriend back in the states. roommate #2 is single.
now, roommate #1 starts talking to this girl, spends a bit of time with her, she starts to like him. roommate #2 meets her as well, of course, and is friendly with her, but not invasive. roommate #1 says to #2 that he doesn't really like girl, but he'll just keep her around for entertainment. girl says to #2 one night at a bar that she kinda likes him too. #2 doesn't really want to interfere, and doesn't really like her "in that way", though she is attractive. all the while #1 is saying how he doesn't really like girl, he just likes the attention, etc. meanwhile, he is traveling with (and ****ing) other girls, maintaining his longdistance relationship, etc. AND, girl thinks that #1 does like her, at least a little. so, #2, seeing an opportunity, asks #1 "hey, if you're not gonna do anything with girl, I'm gonna talk to her. roommate #1 says "sure, go ahead"
so, one day, while #1 is traveling, and away for the evening, girl hangs out with #2. thinks go well. sex happens (multiple times) and girl gets scared. she likes #1 also, and doesn't want him to find out. #2, thinking with his ****, agrees not to tell him. after all, #1 said he didn't care, and that he doesn't like her, and if he DOES say anything, girl might not sleep with him again. so, he doesn't say anything.
time passes. #1 and girl continue hanging out, and girl grows to like him more and more. all the while, hanging out with other girls, and not telling her, and she doesn't know he has a girlfriend, and she thinks she IS his girlfriend, even though he tell's everyone else she's not his girlfriend. (he tell's everyone except her, that is)
#2 finds this out. he really doesn't want to interfere, but this girl is not being treated right. she's totally in the dark, and doesn't know ANYTHING about #1's involvement with other girls, she think's they're "together", and he's letting her think that. so #2, trying to look out for girl, tell's her what is going on.
she get's pissed off, of course. but then, instead of acting like a rational thinker, she acts on emotion (like the stupid dumb ****ing **** ***** that she is) and tells #1 everything, confronts him about it. and tells him that she slept with #2.
so now, to #1's perspective, #2 is both cockblocking and buddy ****ing. girl told him all this because she really WANTS to be with #1, inspite how how horribly he's treating her. #2, even though he was only trying to look out for girl's best interests, gets **** on.
what do you think? should #2 have involved himself at all? what do you think #2 should do now?

Play hardball. If you try and explain it may seem like you accept some blame. Point out it is largely his own fault for stringing the dumb *** along and leave him to cool down.

If/when he cools down a bit then try slowly feeding him your version a bit at a time.
