It's true!!!


The national Israeli bank is about to suggest the Coin and Medals department, the following money:

a 99 agora coin
a 9.90 new israeli shekel
a 999 bill


[1 (new israeli) shekel = 100 (new israeli) agora]

this all comes because stores often employ a tactic of making things cost 4.99 instead of 5.00 and that way they gain a single agora , since it's coin was cancelled about 10 years ago.

Furthermore, many places simply don't keep 5 agora coins, and round the sum of money you owe them up.

That way, millions are gained by evil trading centers every year.

Not necessarily a joke, but highly impractical and as such an absurd notion.

It'd be far easier to outlaw the practice of .99ing, forcing the price to be a whole number cost.

Charging 9.98 instead won't do a whole lot. You reduce your price by a penny so that you can con the customer out of a penny. Why bother?

At least when you do it with the 9.99 it sounds cheaper than 10.00.
