I admit to being curious. How is GalCiv? How does it compare to MOO3? Would you all recommend I buy it?
(Its history as an award winning OS/2 game reminds me of Pax Imperia)

Other then the fact that they are TBS games in space, they are really different.
But compared to MOO3:
No tactical combat and ship design.
No AI governors, but preset build queues you can use
Linear planet ratings.
But the gameplay is great, i can't remember when i've been so addicted to a game, and i've played CtP, SMAC, CtP2, Civ3, EU..
In terms of complexity i think it's a little more complex then Civ3.
The different victory options are well balanced.
There a lot of different play styles to try (military, trade, culture, diplomacy) with different alignments (evil, neutral, good), and different map sizes and AI levels can really make a totally different game. Add the random events and UP to that, and you got maximum replayability.
If you're not sure about buying it now, there comes a demo in then end of april.

Its hard to compare Galciv to MOO3...almost impossible. I love MOO3, and hope that patches are on the way to make single player more playable. Galciv, on the other hand, is an awesome single player experience. The AI is more than competant. Overall, its a great game that'll keep getting better, as patches are constantly in the works.
I was just wondering if the developers are planning on expanding the game in anyway? It seems to be hinted in the game.

No hints about it, the (free) Expansion Pack is already scheduled for a June release, if I remember correctly. Still no tactical combat, and there never will be, unless Brad recants his public statements. This is something I can understand quite well. Tactical combat in MoO3 is more frustrating than it's worth in most cases, at least for me.
