IIRC, two years ago officials in the netherlands raided several homes going after suspected kazaa users. so the EU probably won't protect P2P.
kazaa should be relatively easy to shut down, Sharmon networks (the owner) is nearly bankrupt, a result of all the legal battles they have had to fight. But another, and another will take its place.

come on 29 euros for a CD?
dinodoc will say our social welfare system is to blame.
bring the prices down, and the problem will go away.
what if you lose some profits? big deal.
plus mp3 haring isnt necessarily bringing down sales all by itself.
in the uk people have been buying more CDs after cheking 1 or 2 songs in a p2p program.
at least that happened some months ago

A better system would be... lowering the price of CDs drastically, and giving the artists a wage every month instead of the artist earning money depending on how much they sell...
Naturally, some artists will get a higher pay as they are more valuable to the distributor, just like in a regular company employees who do more important work get paid more...
Also, in an entreprise employees that work harder and do more work and thus are more valuable than other employees who do the same work still get the same pay
Anyway this way everybody gains, except Shakira and the like, they will not be so filthy rich anymore, but they'll still be pretty wealthy, and at the same time, more unknown artists won't be so needy anymore,... the distributors will also quit the whining because we'll be happy and start buying more CDs again (I said "more" )
Say does this make sense or is it utter and complete bs you think?
Of course this is not a very capitalist way of thinking so I guess it won't be pulled off ever

Did anyone ever really think the RIAA could stop file sharing?
