Turn 33 Enter the AD-FREE zone

To be edited by the Consuls and Ministers.

Status:
- Researching Warrior Code at 80%, ready in 6 turns.
- Luxury Slider at 20%
- 26 gold cash, -3 gpt.

Urgent questions:

Military:
W2 'BigFree' moves 3 or 6? We cannot go 2 without violating the NAP.
W3 'Alva' moves 2 or 6?
W4 'BFW' fortifies most likely.
W5 'Theseus' fortified in Apolyton. Looks hungrily at a barb.
Settler builds city. Mingapulco?

Economy:
luxury slider to 0%, research slider to 100%

Workers
Worker Dan chopping forest (2).

Diplomacy:
CDG: NAP in effect. Tech swap in effect; we give WC and Wheel for IW.
GCA: NAP in effect (fm Turn 29). Negotiating future tech swap.

MOW Orders Turn 33: 2460 BC

  • W2 'BigFree' will move 6 (East).

  • W3 'Alva' will move 2 (South).

  • If the Barbarian Warrior 7 (Northwest) of Apolyton moves 6 (East) then:

W4 'BFW' will move 6-9-8 (East-Northeast-North) to defend Apolyton.

W5 'Theseus' will attack the Barbarian Warrior.

  • If the Barbarian Warrior 7 (Northwest) of Apolyton moves 2 (South) then:

W4 'BFW' will move 6-8 (East-North) to attack the Barbarian Warrior.

W5 'Theseus' will remain fortified in Apolyton.
A bit risky? Perhaps. Either way our capital is covered with a Warrior, and we have another Warrior on the way. Unless the Barbarian turns back, we'll have to deal with him anyways (we can't have him roaming about the interior of our lands the whole time, destroying our improvements as he goes).

Full PM-box? Change here!

Yep. If he moves adjacent to our Worker in an open tile, attack with the unit farthest away (that can reach), making sure to keep a unit in Apolyton.

No time to run some tests tonight. I should have some proposals done in time for the next turn.

Let me take this opportunity again to state that the "move Worker to Forest" was a fine on-the-spot decision, given our current situation.

Nothing E either. Still a (very) slight possibility it's a landbridge S. We will uncover all that blackness the same speed either way... but would you rather Alva ends up his journey at the S tip of the land, or at the N edge of the blackness in the area?

There might be something to the Northeast.

As you can tell from the following image...

... There's nothing to the south, while there may very well be something to the northeast. More than to the south at least.

There's at least 1 tile S you aren't accounting for that we can't see and can't rule out that land continues from it.

Are we going to explore the S land? If so we save Alva turns by doing it now. NE is almost certainly just Jungle to the coast, which we see anyways when Alva heads back to Apolyton. We get back to Apolyton (or anywhere we head after clearing the blackness in the area) faster by going S now, then heading back. It's a geography forced double back on ourselves, no need to add a second and third that are avoidable.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Ministry of the Interior thread updated with a very tentative queue up to turn 43. Everything from turns 33-35 should remain the same, though.

Apolyton: Finish Warrior, Settler, Settler,
Mingapulco: Warrior, Numidian Mercenary, Worker
City2: Granary

Should we even throw in the NM into these early queues? I imagine we could get a lot better protection during these next few turns with just some Warriors. The alternative I'm thinking of puts Mingapulco on: Warrior, Warrior, Worker, Numidian. We really do need those Workers fast, as unimproved Grasslands are not what we want to be working...

I guess I agree with Aeson on this one... one more move to the South will most probably unveil the rest of the land towards the South... and we'll waste no time "checking" it later. A very similar thing happened to Lego - we sort of ignored one last shrouded tile on our coast, "'cause it was obvious there was nothing there". Later, we found a narrow isthmus leading to a large peninsula there...

I think city 2 is better off building a Warrior/Warior/Worker and then start the Granary. The city is going to grow while building the Granary, and 1 Worker improving terrain for 3 cities (shortly to be 4) just doesn't cut it. Better to lose the half pop by building a Worker now, as it will pay off in production and commerce by the time the Granary is done. The extra Warriors will help too.

Suffering from ads?

At SOME point we DO still need to get some Mercs moving.... Persia very well might still be thinking aggressive thoughts. Let's not be lulled into complacency- Warrior v Immortal is NOT a good combination. This isn't a computer opponent we can count on to go for settler globbing early on.

I lean towards an NM early also. We have more to fear from Persia than we do from a couple barbs.

Of course, my impression of the situation may change if we lose another Warrior attacking this barb...

We cannot possibly 100% predict what Persia will do with their abilities to create Immortals. But it would be pretty silly of us to expect them not to use them at all. We are privy to the knowledge that they picked Persia mostly for that trait; they said so in their own public forum.

Lot's of archer's to attack with or NM's to defend with is our only hope if CDG should chose trouble with APO instead of GCA.
