Keep guessing! 19 more to go.
P.S.: I mean no slight by my previous remark, just an observation. If I could hear him speak, I could probably narrow it down to the city he grew up in. Always had a knack for picking up on different languages and accents since I was a kid. Heck, I learned Russian in 1 week back when I was 15.

Master of Orion 2
These guys were the Black Isle of the TBS genre.
And as for After Sales Support.
No publisher ever put much into this. It relies on the developer being rich enough to afford i, with the promise that punters will buy the next version.
We saw this with Firaxis and CIV3.
And recently Championship Manager 4.
CM4, like MOO3 was a highly anticipated game, which had a lot to live up to,and finecky fans to please.
They were also redesigning both games from scratch. Both had many bugs on release.
The difference is that in 2 months since its release. SI are developing the 4th patch (sorry, enhancement pack)already. For christsake, they had a patch ready the day after it was released. That is aftersale service, and Moo3 is a millions of miles (or au's) away fom this.
Capitalism, its an American invention, isnt it? You guys should be proud of it. If only the CEO's realised they might make more in the long run by producing quality, instead of cutting costs.

My previous post to the one you quoted explains (in painful detail) just how MoO3 got to be as awful as it is.
In its early days, Microprose set the standard for after-market support. I still long for those days when I could call up and speak one-on-one with one of the developers or programers and actually have them call me back two days later with a patch! I guarantee in this age of spin doctoring problems away you'll never see that again!
P.S. We're getting too serious here....

By the way, Infogrames/Atari is European, not American.... ouch! That gotta hurt!

I wonder how it sells (or sold) too.... Big stores in my city had the MoO3 parts of their shelves fileld to capacity yet it was still 45 Euros...
Maybe they think its more likely that one fool buys it for 45 than 9 fools buying it for 5? hehehhee

The police many time have than person in mine who did the crime afew day ask most crime happen even it take years before they arrest the person.
When I live on Long Isaland N.Y. than father put cynan poision in his son hallween candy and claim the candy came
from trick and treating. It was reported on TV New an 100,000 people turn they tricked and treat bags over to the police to exiame and test, none where tamper with and no poison was found 90,000 bags came from the most likely area the boy trick and treat in. No other person die from cynan poision one of the most deadly poision use in the chemical indust. The poision is so deadly the compancy that manufactor it make you read than 700 pages doc on the danger of his chemical which make many useful products and each page must be sign by you in front of witress. The father took out than 10 million dollar life insance polcy than month before ther son death. Useing the police reports and suspion the insance company refuse to pay and the only way the father can collect is to sue the company in civil court where the insance company would have won by showing by enought evidence to tip the scale in their favor that the father kill his own son.

Who do I trust more. That's a tough one.
Who do I trust more a man who's sent his countrymen to war for his own financial aggrandizement or a man who's gassed his own people. A man who 'won' his last election with 98% of the vote or a man who stole an election for the first time in his nation's history.
Yep, that's a tough one alright.

Are you sure it he is not going to do it before next elect. Alot
of people didnot believe that Hilter was going to kill over 6 million peoples in death camp either.
Even the Head of the SS was stock by Hilter order on this. Himmler like shaken down Jewist people for money and some of their beautiful woman for special flavor. Himmler did
issue than special standing order that state no SS member who doesnot want to kill unarmed defences man, woman and child doesnot have to and no action will be taken against them except they will have to do other extra duty. This special standing order apply to the regurate military also. I read this in abook called "The Good Old Days" the holocaust as seen by its perpetrators and bystanders.

Jesus christ, have you guys heard of Godwin's Law!
To return to games related stuff....
Kahn - Have you tried Age of Wonders 2? It's similar to MoM. A few things are different (like you get a campaign mode and can't mix your magic schools) but not much. It didn't sell that well, so it'll probably be in bargain bins. Also, it's the first game in years that I've bought that has a huge and detailed manual, with all the stats and spell effects listed.
Vince - Have you heard of UFO: Aftermath? It's due out later this year. It's being made by Czech developers, ALTAR Interactive. They've just confirmed an American publisher.
It's not official X-Com, but is similar. Aliens take over most of Earth, you are the resistance - operating from bases around the world, intercepting UFOs and fighting them in tactical combat (a real-time/turnbased hybrid system). It is going to focus more on the tactical combat and soldier development than base building, but it could be very good.
Unofficial web site:
http://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/?c=aftermath&p=faq
The official web site is a .com with a hyphen between ufo and aftermath (no hyphen takes you to a p*rn redirect!).
ALTAR got the license to Dreamland Chronicles, the canned MYTHOS sequel to X-Com, originally planned as X-Com:Genesis (I think).
I just hope they don't do a MOO3 on this one!

In the 1930's the Jews in Germany where mistreated but no death camp exist yet which lead some leader of the world to believe that Hilter willnot carry out his threat which he talk about in the book he wrote. The truth was Hilter want to do it alllong but needed than actural full scale war to lower the
standard of what is moral behavior to carry it out. It he try to carry this out in 1934 the germany people would have overthrow him most likely with germany military carrying out than coup against him most likely.

campfreddie - More in to strategic, empire building type games, but if I get a chance, I'll try it out. Thanks.
statusperfect - I always thought of it (the tendency to drift off topic) as the human corollary to the second law of thermodynamics.
CBH - Hint, buddy, hint.
