Suffering from ads?

There are Black Vegans?

The only ones I've seen have been lilly white hippies.

It is ultimately their choice, but when they are a baby they are not going to be making any choices one way or the other. I've never said anything about forcing teenagers and older children to adopt the diet, but chances are that they will anyways if they've been raised on it.

I don't know about your cousins, but I really wouldn't expect a vegetarian to feed their children meat. Generally speaking parents will feed their children the same things they eat no matter what their diet is, and I would think that is especially true for vegetarians. (and deffinately true for those who are so for ethical reasons)

BTW, your points are fine... reread your original post... without the "get a clue remark" it was quite good.

When'd you become so sensitive?

Bah. I've rarely (as in once every few months) eaten the same thing as my parents since I was 14.

Where you being spoon fed at 14 years old? I thought I made it pretty clear in my last post that that is exactly what I'm not talking about.

Ummm, I was responding to the whole chances are thing, so I was responding to what you are talking about. Man, grow up.

Many people I know don't eat the same thing as their parents too.

I would like to point out that Japanese nobility during the middle ages existed on a vegitarian diet for religious reasons (Budhism). I don't think many of us would consider ourselves a physical, mental, or cultural match for the samurai and nobility, so maybe there's nothing wrong with being a vegitarian.

Except when you are too stupid to know how to feed a baby the same diet.

They should be licensed anyway. Procreating should be the privelege of those people who have proven they are responsible enough to be parents. Someday (I hope), when technology permits, all children should receive reversible surgical birth control (perhaps reversible vasectomies for boys, I don't know what for girls). When they're old enough (18 or so), they should have to prove their level of responsibility and maturity, and receive a license when they are able to do so. Then they can have all the kids they want (providing they can support them, but that falls under responsibility).

I'm positive I'll get flamed for this, and I understand my stance is rather extreme. But, it is undeniable that many people have had children who absolutely should not have done so. I'd prefer to limit the 'rights' of people to procreate than have children and society suffer as a result of their miserable parenting abilities.

Um, Osweld was talking about babies. Unless you were crapping your diapers at the age of 14 years, I don't think this is a relevant response.

Read the post. My point is that many times people don't go along with the diet of the parents.

Since the topic is about infants, perhaps you'd do better to remain on topic and not bring up the pathetically inane means you use to "rebel" against your parents.

Just stop talking. This isn't even about rebelling against my parents, not to mention I still liked them when I was 14. What I'm saying is that it isn't the case that kids follow everything their parents do, especially eating habits. Kids argue about where to eat out with their parents all the time. It is just a bad idea to risk a kid's heath to try to bring them up on a diet that they'll most likely not follow in the future.

Finally I was replying to a point someone else made. If you want to get mad at someone for not talking about infants, don't get mad at me. I don't even have anything against vegan diets and I eaten soy foods many times in the past.

Hence why i said "chances are" instead of "always".

Breaking a vegetarian diet is quite a bit different then having varying tastes from your parents, anyways. It would be more like an american-raised child deciding that he wants to start eating dog.

But this is barely even relevant to what I was saying.

You aren't risking the kid's health on a vegetarian diet unless you have no idea what you're doing, and if that's the case, he'd probably end up being on a unhealthy diet regardless. And, what the kid chooses to do when he grows up really does not matter.
