Changing the default options ... forever ? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Hi
Is there a way to change the default options in a permanent way, so that every time I create a new game I don't have to change the values of the options, such as the world sizen the unavailibility of huts etc etc ... it's quite boring to have to type hundreds of /set blabla .
Thanks for your help .

Tired of ads?

Make your own my_setting.serv file, and start:
civserver -r my_setting.serv

Thanks for your answer . I succeeded somewhat, following your advices, the options are changed the way I want, but only for the server side (then I have to connect to my local server). In fact, i'd like to achieve this, without having to launch the server, only using the client, as I do when launching AI only games (me vs AI I mean); well, i suppose the server is running somewhere deep down under in that case, without me knowing it .
Not sure if that is of any interest to precise what I'd like to do, but I'm using the windows version of freeciv 1.14.0.

Hmmm, OK, I just found a trick : saving the game (via the server), then I can shut down the server and reload the game as a pure AI game, without using the server anymore (which allows me to save the game whenever I want from within the CLIENT [edit : not the server ]) ... but hey ... that's way too many things to do ... nearly as boring as having to type all the /set blabla things .
So my question remains : is there another way, not using the server? Can't we specify a file, describing the options, to the client, the same way it is possible with the server? I tried it ( civclient.exe -r data\perso.serv ), but then the client does not even bother to launch !!!

You could always create a shortcut with the command line parameters. No need to type in the settings by hand then.

P.S
You can also change server settings via the client. Just put the prefix "/" in front of the server command. For example: "/help"

Thats' what I did, but the problem is that I still have to launch the server in that case, even when wanting to play only versus AI. Or, are there any command line parameters that can be used with the client for that matter ?
Haa ... now that we're talking about the server, when I launch it, it seems I ca not start the game from within the client, I have to go to the server. But online servers, found in the metaserver, do allow to start the game from the client .... of course , is there a dedicated option allowing the client to start the game ?

Yes I know .... but that's still too many lines to type .

Again, thanks for your helpfull input .

I'm sure you can download bash for Windows, nexy make short script, and start it instead of normal civclient.
