Vox has declared war on us. see: this thread
WTF are they thinking? Bunch of liars they.
edit:
warriors moved off their posts?
Trade pact stalling?

BTW, this is no off the cuff event.
We are weak. We have been for some time.
To be weak invites attack, especially by neighbours with Immortals.
My money would be on the whole Vox - Bob bit being the ruse. I would not be surprised to see gallies with help from Bob arriving off our shores.
Reap the whirlwind.

Let's see.
Positive:
- We have a pretty strong economy
- We have a bunch of warriors ready to upgrade and can make enough money to do so
- We have a good road network. That's for certain an asset. (edited in)
Negative:
- Most of them are merely regulars
- Our mobile force is insignificant and poorly deployed.
- We failed to man our foreposts with spearmen. The way down our mountain ranges is free.
- Our cities are largely undefended (regular warriors or war chariots don't count as defenses
- We have only 2 barracks (the one in Hurricane doesn't count). This is next to nothing.
- It takes the pillaging of one road tile to make Vox invulnerable by our UU.
So far it looks, that the negatives outweigh the positives by far. We had it coming.

If noone objects, I'll try to ask any members of GoW that I come across for a screenshot of the Voxian invasion force. We'll see what we can make of their reaction to this.
Btw, now that we have a trade route with GoW, perhaps we should start a harbor in one of the coastal cities where we don't have a barracks and don't intend to build one in the near future? GoW said that they are interested in having iron, if only for just one turn (where the turn afterwards they would cancel the trade by declaring war and then signing peace). Surely they would pay a significant amount of gold for this, as we are their only choice - no iron in the islands that they've scouted, no trade route with RP (they need to build a harbor in Barcelona, and only then they can trade), trade with Lego still isn't possible technologically and ND is certainly not an optional supplier.
Btw2, I'm SO glad that we decided to build Monsoon away from the mountains! Whew!!

They landed two immortals to the west. Whats that about? Take out the lone warrior there? They could have done a lot more damage on the interior of the country.

good point, but I would think the extra 5 turns to get those immortals to a city would hurt them more. They could potentially take and burn a city in that time. Now we have turns to build a defense and counter-strike that will be waiting for them when they move south. Granted, they don't know what we have south and don't know where to attack, so I suppose securing the north is an understandable first priority for them.
Is there a direct road through the jungle to the north, or are we going to have to take dissville with swords and then build new roads?
