Our warrior spotted a stack of three Greek units (Brigade sized) just exiting Sparta and heading south towards Red City. The top unit is a Legion but the other two are unknown. I recommend to send the next phalanx from Atlantis to Red City to bolster the defense there. A fortified stack of two phalanx in city hills should be able to defend against a stack of three legions, but by the time they get there (4 turns away) we should have three phalanx there in Red City. If it is Awesome AI being used, they will know the strength of the defenders BEFORE they attack, so they wont attack if it is well defended.

MoD

From checkMate:
"I'm with Quinns. The 2nd phalanx will come from the capitol. The other will be built in red city. Should the warrior fortify in the new position?"

Thanks checkMate! I believe the warrior should not fortify but remain mobile, just out of reach of the main force, to: 1) keep an eye on the direction of the 3-stack Greek force; and 2) keep an eye on anything else coming out of the north.

We may want to consider positioning our warrior where the Greeks will move close enough to him to expel any possible settlers in that group.

I never tried that... Does that work? For example, if I had a settler stacked with 8 war walkers positioned next to an enemy warrior... that enemy warrior could expel the settler even though it was stacked with 8 war walker escorts???

Even if it was 8 leviathans escorting that settler. However you cannot expel slavers stacked in an army.

Amazing... Completely ridiculous, but amazing! Thanks for the info Nimrod. Good idea then, as long as we always keep one tile distance between the 3-stack and our warrior.

The AI have never done that to me - expelled an escorted settler. So if that is possible, that would surely a bug, THAT WE SHOULD NOT USE. One should never be able to expel who-so-ever if escorted.

Ummm... Good point, Birdman. On second thought, let's NOT use this -- as Birdman advises. And we will label this a "minor bug", i.e. not to be used in ANY PBEM CHALLENGE MATCH. It isn't very severe so we won't worry about it too much.

Well an escorted non-combatant might be sent home if there is fighting on the road. The escort is along just to prevent a quick kill.

But you shouldn't listen to me, I don't think anything should be called a bug unless I have to use the three finger salute to recover from it.
