I just find the thought of old ladies around the world all watchng the same telenovellas (correct).

And the damn argentines use the same actors all over again. . So you go like, "Hey, grandma, didn't that dude play in..." and she goes "yes". Amazingly enough, the biggest changes in their roles are the names. those guys need some new scripts. You either have the "Rich family intrigue" stuff, prevalent in Argentina, Peru, and to a smaller extent, Venesuela. So much prevalent, that you SIMPLY DON'T have a soap without it. You also have the "Cinderella" story module, goes strong in northen South America, i.e. Venesuela, Peru, it's of course, a part of the Rich Family Intrigue.

Brazil is a tad different. they have all those slavery issues, and various plantations, But basically, the rich family remains, only now it's located in an agricultural/small town enviroment.

Telenovelas (or teleseries) from Argentina, Venezuela or México, are quite boring. Is the same story over and over
Anyway Chilean soap operas are quite good and amusing, but I think that the actual market for our telenovelas, besides Chile, is Bulgary, Croatia and Japan But I'm not sure about it.
The problem with the telenovelas of the rest of S.A. is that every single one is about a rich family against a poor one, a romantic problem as in Romeo + Juliette and a lots of weeping.

Belive me they are amusing... but facing a Chilean soap opera against a dramatic series like 'Justicia para Todos' (Justice for All) proove that the soap opera just suck.
I think that happen also with the Americans and Israelis telenovelas, right?

Anyway at the time UC-TV or TVN are broadcasting the telenovelas I'm watching Friends or The West Wing
