	The Manifold Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

What exactly is the Manifold? We know that it has multiple Nexus'. Possible entry and exit routes in the Manifold?

Is the Manifold an alternate universe? Or merely a method of transport?

I'm think it's similar to Greg Bears Eon and Legacy books. In that the 'Way' is a infinitely long corridor which can be travelled along and has entry and exit points which branch off at differnt pionts into not only places in space but into alternate universes too.

What do you think?

The game seems to hint that it's more of a planitary power tap then a transport device. The Tau Ceti flowering was caused by tapping on of those Manifolds, so perhaps it's also an evolution device as well, such as the Monoliths in the 2001 series.
