The War on Iraq and action in Afghanistan have been the only two things I've supported Bush on. I knew that we would win both, and I simply hoped that we would have the long-sightedness to rebuild the countries properly.

Rooney's not a leftist, and it doesn't sound like he's apologizing anyway.

Just because the war wasn't as bad as it was expected to be doesn't mean it was justified. If you rob a bank and don't kill anyone, that doesn't make it better. It's still a crime.

When Iraq is in better condition than it was under Hussein, I might apologize for, uh... voicing my opinion?

But the deathcount is still far in excess of September 11, and all the weapons of mass destruction we feared weren't even used when we conquered the country that possessed them.

I'll also apologize when conquering a country makes terrorists stop hating us. And that doesn't seem entirely likely...

According to international law, it was. The UNSC didn't approve it and the US wasn't under attack from Iraq. Therefore the war was illegal under the UN Charter, which the US signed, which makes it US law.

yeah, the invasion began less than a month ago... history takes years of perspective to fully grasp, i doubt anyone would be able to accurately guage this conflict anytime soon

You guys need to do some more research on international law. The war in Iraq falls pretty squarely into one of the many "gray-areas" in international law. Both sides can claim that international law is on their side and they would both be right. The war wasn't clearly legal or illegal.

No it isn't. The legality of the war depends greatly on how the phrase "serious consequences" is defined in Resolution 1441. The phrase is so vague that both sides can claim that they are right.
