Dust and mold are common allergens inside buildings, particular older buildings. If you live in an apartment complex, ask around on your floor and others and see if any of the other tenents have similar symptoms. If you find a lot of people agreeing, bring it to the landlord's attention. It shouldn't cost much to have someone test the building for mold.

Wind currents through city streets can easily carry pollen and such from city parks...straight to your nose.

Suffering from ads?

pollen...

Drosedars... it's probably pollen since i just started getting them in the past week and any dust problems i would have had for a while... but nah the landlord wouldn't give a damn. it's actually funny that some tenant here has resorted to spray-painting the walls here cursing at the landlord and the super saying they need to fix up the building.

but anyway... does anyone here take claritin? does it work better than benadryl and tylenol sinus?

thanks

Well, if there are more problems related to the building then you and the others tenets need to contact the relevant authorities and report the situation. If the man (or woman) simply can't afford most repairs, perhaps the Housing authority has assistance programs available. If the person in question is a deadbeat landlord, then they're breaking the law. If they're just an *ssh*le, then you need to move to a new apartment...

fvcking pollen.

i take claritin-d. i felt a bit mixed about the deregulation of it, since it meant that i'd have to pay more, but i'd avoid having to get the prescription. unfortunately, i didn't realize that claritin isn't the same as claritin-d, so until i run out of the box of claritin i have, i won't go back to my old medication.

for me, it's not as effective, because claritin has no nasal decongestant. claritin-d does. and i like to breathe without sneezing.

I have taken Claritin for years, and it has worked much better for me than Benadryl. But that's just me.

for me, claritin works better than benadryl. benadryl knocks me out almost as well as nyquil does.

claritin doesn't make me drowsy at all.

however, for about 30 pills of regular claritin-24hr, it's about us$25 at sam's club. claritin-d 24hr is about the same for 20 pills.

I used to take claritin cause my doctor thought that I had allergies once. He prescribed me claritin and it didnt do sh!+. So, I just didn't take them and I havent had problem ever since.

So, Maybe I didnt have allergies, but the point is, while I was taking claritin, it really didnt help me. (I have a history of nasty unusual nasal problems so maybe that was it, which could explain why claritin didnt work.)

--" does anyone here take claritin? does it work better than benadryl and tylenol sinus?"

I've got moderate-to-bad year round allergies, so I've been on claritin before. For quite some time. (Right now I'm on Clarinex, the sucessor to Claritin, as well as a nasal spray, and no, they still don't do enough for me... time for shots.)

Anyway, to answer your question, most definitely. I haven't found anything less than Claritn or Allegra that even makes a dent in my allergies.

--"i didn't realize that claritin isn't the same as claritin-d,"

Claritin-D is just Claritin with an additional antihistimene, but it's the same thing that's in Sudafed. Just go buy some of it (or, cheaper, the generic version) and you'll have the same thing.
It's not a good idea, though. The medicine in Sudafed can cause high blood pressure.

--"ts just one pill a day?"

There were two versions, a 12 hour and a 24 hour, but I think all the non-perscription stuff is 24 hour.

You can buy generic claritin (loratidine) online for about $30 USD for 72 10mg pills (the standard dose) from Canada.

Here's a link to one site http://www.canadamedshop.com/more.asp?DIN=clarigen
