Got to go with Havel here, personally. Nothing against Mandela, of course - but we can't discount Havel's role in ending the Soviet empire and the Cold War.

Havel did nothing to end the USSR and during his presidency he's been rather horrible for both the former Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic.

A very small part. He was a dissident playwright. He was cetainly far less important to his cause than Mandela was to his. Nor did Mandela start handing over state property to the decendents of nobility, outlaw political parties, and help the break u of his country.
