Spring Cleaning! (Modify Turn Report Thread) Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Well talking to others about this, we find that the way the current turn reports thread is setup is rather cumbersome and HIGHLY inefficient. I have broadband and it takes me nearly 5 minutes to download the whole thing just to see the latest turn thread. Is there anyway we can possibly resolve this?

Say create a "Master Directory" with all the links, like:
Turn 1 4000BC
Turn 2 3950BC

Except from now on post the turn reports in their own separate thread and lock them? This way we get quick and easy access to all future turn reports and don't have to wait 5 minutes (and even longer as more reports are posted).

Would this be possible, and do people agree?

Tired of ads?

I asked Vondrack about this about 1 month ago and he seems to like doing it this way. I have DSL and It take WAY TOO LONG for the d*mn page to load, I just know that someone with dailup will take all day.

You do know there are links to individual turns (which display on individual pages) in the InfoCenter, right?

Got spare money?

Perhaps it is good to have this thread, since the link Kloreep posted will become better known - I update that "directory" post every time I add a new turn report. Putting turn reports into individual threads would only make things worse - if you use the "directory" post to access the individual turn reports, you can then use the "page numbers" to go back and forth between turns - with separate threads, you would have to always go back to the directory first and then to another turn report. Also, you can "subscribe" to the turn report thread and receive email notifications every time there is a new one up - that would again be impossible, if using separate threads.

I seriously thought everybody has already known about the "turn report directory", as I set it up a long time ago (before turn 20, I believe)... I consider this setup just fine and see no reason to change it. But if I am missing something, feel free to point that out, please.

Vondrack - maybe you can post two turns in one thread (just once) - after that, the page numbers will match the turn numbers.

Imagine how long it takes in my 56.6...

however, since I am usually just interested in the save game link and the units movements I don't mind, also the map screens have a link so if I want to see the link I just click it and it pops un in another window (I then close the main page while the images load)

But I agree with WB that a better more efficient system would be best

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

I see that Vondrack had made that thread 1 page per post, so that you only open the page that you need. I'm sorry, I didn't know that he had done that. Thanks, I'll start looking at that page a little more often.
