ahem, well, that's the catch. Ammunition doesn't just pop out of thin air. After every night you get mightily pissed off at the neighbours, you have to reload this bad boy. That and Maintenance! .but you know how it is with military equipment.

I'd save some more, and get a fighter jet, personally.

Yeah I figure the real cost is maintenance and ammo.. also I think it consumes more than a regular car so.. but we can always dream.
I'd get a fighter jet too.. those are my passion, too bad I can never fly one. Though I'm not sure, maybe they rent those Migs in Russia so people can fly with them.. it's possible I think if you have the money.

Choppers are cool too, you know it costs 98 000 euros to get a pro chopper pilot license and training here? Kind of expensive. Also there are only maybe about 4 to 6 in every two year they choose as assault chopper pilots in cadet school so.. sucks.

That's the problem. I don't even know.. we just got a deal for new ones, but we don't have lots of them.. There are choppers for transports like mi-8s and stuff, but real assault choppers are not that many.
Also if you get to fly these babies, it means you fly them for long time too, since you're staff then.

So you might already guess, that it's VERY tough to get into the training, because there are lots of good young guys who want to do it.. keeps the quality of pilots very high though.

So chopper pilots aren't regular army.. you can't even apply to do that, you have to accomplish your service first with excellent discharge (that I got! Woohoo!) and then apply to cadet school and be army for life. And then you have to score top, and that's not enough, you have to be the best of the best. Too bad I'm not best of the best .

Fighter pilots are not regular army either.. actually these things are pro army in it's meaning, no reserve pilots or stuff like that.

Azazel, true.. but we see it more important to keep pilots flying all the time with no gaps. At least no gaps going to civil life, they stay in the army and fly all the time, or train others to fly, or at least watch top gun .
Since our materials are limited, we make sure it's top quality. Always been, always will be .

1 million put aside for me to live off the interest.

500 thou to both my brothers held in trust, again as yearly guaranteed income.

Whatever my folks need to retire, again around 1 million.

Pay my girlfriend's tuition and living expenses for the next while.

1 million to my church.

Buy a nice house in the suburbs of Vancouver, around 300,000.

Give the rest away how I see fit.

Yeah not talking about mansions, but a nice house from suburbs.. I'd compare it to here, if you want a house, it costs you 200 000 minimum. Doesn't matter where, if from popular place, then a lot more. If better than normal little house, then much much more. So.. 300 000 is quite normal, or does it get actually a nice house?

Well.. again I have no real comparison because our prices are straight from hell.

I could imagine 300 000 giving a nice house somewhere else. Average house in Vancouver that expensive? Canadian or American dollar? Sounds very high..

If I couldn't achieve what I wanted with a billion, $10 million wouldn't make a difference at all.

With my billion, I would already have made sure my future was secure (steady income that I could live off) and that all my family and friends were well off.

More than likely the money would be used to connect my home network via fibre-optics directly to Australia's telecommunication backbone.

My father in law is in the US now and working as a dishwasher. He saved $400 and sent it to his brothers in the Philippines to buy a water pump. The brothers are simple rice farmers in a area where there isn't alot of money. Likely these guys have never seen $100 all in one place, $400 is a fortune. Anyway, the water pump will allow them to get another rice crop in a season. Which will allow them to get ahead. I'm thinking of buying the hill above their farms and planting trees on it to hold the water longer and helping the pump. Also, provide a source of fuel for the community who traditionally cook with sticks. Plus, the trees will turn greenhouse gasses into oxygen.

What could I do with 10 million?
