PTW debug mode Full PM-box? Change here!

Anyone know if it is possible to watch the AI play without being in the game yourself?

Ah, I see your point - AI strategy research. But alas, unless someone else knows of a work around, I don't believe that it's possible.

You could go back to an old patch of regular Civ III (pre 1.17f?) and use multi.sav to watch the AI play. There have been quite a few changes to the AI since then... so not sure how much help it would be.

I guess the question should be: Is there a debug mode for PTW? If so, can this mode let you watch the game without being actively involved in it?

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Well, you could watch the AI using the debug mode without really participating in the game. You, technically would be in the game, not would be a non-factor. I saw someone else set up a map and made a 1-tile mountain island where they made it the human's starting location. As long as you are far out in the ocean, the AI won't bother you until very late in the game (when they finally find you) and in the meantime you can watch the AI. Since you can't found a city on the mountain, you won't have any city management things to worry about, either.

I've done the same, but founded a city and immediately set the city to wealth -- it grows to size 2 and then stagnates for the remainder of the game. Contact obviously doesn't occur until the very late Middle Ages or even early industrial ages. I don't know of any way to avoid being "in" the game, but this solution seems to accomplish most of the desired goal.
