	update-confusion Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

hi there.

im new at galciv, i bought it just yesterday. but now i saw, that there are already tons of updates, so please allow me a question:

do i really need all of the updates?
or are all updates only minor little things, i donīt have to care about (minor changes,little bugs).
an...is it enough to download only the latest update or do i have to start with the firsT?

and: what is this bonuspack, which is of course larger?

The bonus pack adds new UP issues, techs, special events, etc. You don't need the updates per se, but they fix many imbalances and provide tweaks and improvements to the game. I think you only download the latest patch. If you use SDC, it shouldn't force you to download each patch; it'll just download the latest version of ones that have changed. I'd download the patches if I were in your position. It never hurts to stay current.

I recommend using Stardock given the frequenxy with which tweaks come out.

Just be aware that there are some issues with respect to installing Stardock after GalCiv. I had to uninstall GalCiv, then install stardock, then reinstall GalCiv. Doing so is inconvenient, but will seem well worth the effort after you download the first two tweaks while others are waiting for a patch.

The SDC makes the whole process a whole lot easier. I downloaded the mods from the Library at galciv.com, but I hear some of the events are bugged, so I'll have to go through them and get rid of the bad ones. But the new events I downloaded are cool, they add a bit more variety.
