As I posted on the main forum, I used the load cheat to try to pinpoint where the save was corrupted. I traced it back to 710 BC, the first save I had. The game still crashed at 570bc, lego turn. As a result, I saw the map and must withdraw from this team.
The reason I did this was to try to resolve the problem in a reasonable time.
I was planning on leaving you soon anyway, so I thought this would be as good a time as any to make my exit. Though I had planned on returning intermittently during the summer.
My life is going to change dramatically starting this saturday, and I don't know when I will be around. Saturday I am moving a few hundred miles away to a new home. I will graduate law school on the 17th. On the 19th I am flying to Jamaica where I will be married on the 21st. Then I will return to my new home and begin studying for the bar and trying to adjust to married life and a new city. Not a lot of 'poly time in the near future.
Thus, while I am extremely disappointed that I will not see how the game progresses, I hope that what I have done will help resolve the situation in one way or another.
I really learned a lot from watching you guys play, I can certainly crush the AI on Emperor now, which was a rarity pre-GS. And I enjoyed the camaraderie and the people I met here.
Thanks
Stan

Wow, this is really a bittersweet thing... We'll miss you, asleep, or at least I know I will. But given all the new and happy things you're looking forward to, I can't help feeling happy for you too...
Yes indeed, stop by from time to time, if you find any space in your future agenda, and give us an update (new job, new wife, what's next, new kid? )
Good luck, and hopefully 'till soon... and indeed, safe driving
BTW, I fully agree on renaming cities to memorate the members we had to leave behind, but let's make it something funny, if possible... "R.I.P. asleepattheweel" might be a bit dark, but I find the humor in that

Thanks for the kind words.
I will definitely check in from time to time this summer. Vondrack has suggested that I be allowed to lurk here if the game is fixed, and I would greatly appreciate it, though it would kill me to just watch mutely .
I have really enjoyed being a part of this team. I've had perhaps the most strenuous academic year of my life and found this game to be a nice reprieve from the rigors of school. Naming cities after myself and others departed would be very flattering, thank you.
And yes, the future is very scary. Marriage. Whew. Going to be interesting thats for sure. I've spent most of the past three years away from my fiance while at law school. she had to finish undergrad and start grad school (political science, Indiana U). Thus the large amounts of time I was able to spend on "Poly and thus the reason (among other things) my time here will be limited in the near future as this is my dirty little secret.
I will pop in from time to time to check out whats going on, and I would appreciate being kept on the mailing list.

Good luck, Kill an immortal for me
And DeepO- no kid, not yet. maybe a cat or a dog, but no kid, hopefully....
