Yes, we definitely need more cool police officers, just like "the man with no eyes" who wore those cool sun glasses in the movie "Cool Hand Luke". They'll be able to resolve "communication problems" just as coolly as "the man with no eyes" did in the movie. Then the films of their communication resolution techniques can be aired on cool shows like "the World's Scariest Police Chases". Just let me know the date, time and channel so that I can make popcorn in advance!

Floyd, since when is shooting someone a proper response to being mased?

When that person is also armed with a firearm. If they are using mace on you for no reason, what's to stop them from using a firearm? Nothing, outside of your own firearm.

Uhhhh... that's a good way to get yourself killed.

If they are beating you, any action you take in your own defense will just lead to a harder beating... picking up a metal chair, bar, or whatever, will lead to you get shot for resisting arrest. Even DF understands that one

Your best bet is to bring charges later... Not a great solution at the time, but it's the only real choice you have.

I would be as cooperative with the police even here in Argentina to avoid getting beaten to a pulp.

Lawrence, I don't know about you, but it isn't wise to piss off a cop.

And besides if you kill the cop, I would support getting you indicted for murder all the way.

I suppose the same logic can be applied to a man who has a gun in his home and slaps you on the back? After all, if he'll do that, what's to stop him from shooting you?

Maybe not wise, but if they start beating you up for no reason, they are usually already pissed.

And the alternative is to end up like rodney king. Get the crap beaten out of you, then go to court and lose it. Rightt.. I'd rather get shot.

A slap on the back isn't an assault. Being beaten with a nightstick is. Duh.

Let's see, Rodney King...as I recall, wasn't he both high and resisting (lawful) arrest?

Maybe not Assault, but Battery for sure...

Besides, I never said that it was assault.

Since when does backslapping have any connotations of either assault or batterY?

orange, come on, you know as well as I do that isn't what battery is, unless it is intended as such, which it isn't. Ever.

I suppose, and if you obviously intend an assault by slapping someone on the back, you better hope you're not carrying a deadly weapon, and that your victim isn't either. Again, if you assault someone while carrying a gun, you should be (and AFAIK are) fair game.

But oversight boards are always a good idea like I said above.

putting cops in poor neighborhoods just makes poor people think that cops dont trust them and they are scum.

Tired of ads?

The panthers monitored the police. it's completely legal to do so assuming you are a certain number of feet away from an arrest.

as for fighting back... like a lot of people said, probably not a good idea as police got guns and they will bring even more force against you if threatened.

I think the cops said he was on PCP, which dulls the nerves. THis was the reason they said that they had to hit him 79 times because he couldnt feel the pain so he kept on struggling. I dont remeber why he got approached by the cops originally.
