Turn 49 Increase the size of your Attachments

To be edited by the Consuls and Ministers.

Status:
- Researching map making at 100%
- Luxury Slider at 0%
- 68 gold cash, -1 gpt

Urgent questions & tasks:
FAM: Build embassy in Elucidia (should be about 36 gold)?
FAM: Negotiations with CFC for the wheel?
FAM: Need to find out CDG's next tech.
MoL: Need name for worker 4.
decorators: We have a Palace improvement coming to us. What d'ya say, can we upgrade the cave?

Unit movement & actions:
N1 'MerZenary' to attack the Mycenian camp at 8 (N)??
N2 'Mao' to move 7 (NW) to disspell the last black blob??
W2 'BigFree' fortified
W3 'Alva' to fortify or do something??
W4 'Theseus' to rest. Do not fortify
W5 'BFW' to fortify, or can we move SE to scout out more possible iron sites??
W6 'Hagbart' fortified in Apolyton
W7 'WhiteBandit' facing Sumerian warrior at 1??
W8 'not_panag' fortified in Apolyton

Economy:
Apolyton finishes settler. Begins settler.
Mingapulco finishes worker. Begins NumMerc.
Banatopia building granary.

WF:
Apolyton set to 1,33 **
Mingapulco set to 6, or 6 9 **?? #
Bananatopia at 9 (no changes)

# Mingapulco can benefit from one turn on the game. Maybe it should be turn 49 to get a jump on growth and leave the game for Poly and BT for future turns.

Workers
Worker1 'Dan' begins road
Worker2 'Monkee' road-to to incense (1)
Worker3 'panag' building mine (2)
Worker4 "???" to move 8??

Diplomacy:
CDG: NAP in effect.
CFC: Negotiating...
GCA: NAP in effect (fm Turn 29).

Comment, please, many "plans" (especially those marked with '??') are just suggestions or ideas, not decisions already made.

Discussion and basic reporting to follow. See the topped thread for comprehensive results.

We have a wee problem.

MoI orders on turn 46 show Mingapulco beginning a worker. Good, we did that.

47 shows a Merc, as does 48 and 49. Therefore, we do not have specific orders for the worker that will just be completed in Mingapulco on turn 49.

The best place for the worker to go would be Mingapulco 8 and start a road, then mine. That will speed the movement of the next settler and provide a more useful tile for city 5 to use when it is settled.

Boy, you were right, that is a 'wee' problem!

I agree with your worker assignment; getting that city going is important.

We should have enough cash ... I strongly recommend that we build an embassy in CDG's capital city.

Because then we don't get to see the status of their capital and how well it is doing. It costs us, but it will give us some valuable intelligence. And I would rather not have them find out the same about our capital:
"It's only guarded by 2 warriors?! LETS GO!"

I believe it is also currently of greater value to US to see territory than it is to them.

Exactly... knowing if/where they have iron will completely change our perspective in this game.

As Dominae isn't here for this, I'm going to suggest that we send the next settler from Poly (which will be built this turn) to the that Iron that is SE of Poly. Move them (Settler with NM or warrior escort) to the hill that is SE (direction 1) from the Iron. The Worker that is building the road to the Insence city site can go and build a temparary road at teh Insence, and have it connected ASAP.

This will need to be discussed before we do the next turn.

Great, no research, no luxury, 100% taxes, with an iron connected to the capital. Know what that means? Build warriors in the other cities and upgrade them in the capital.

...the Immortals are coming!! Honestly though, if I were them I'd use them against GCA. They have a higher score and are much easier to kill off. But we don't want that do we?

I'm betting their next city is going to be 9-9-6 from the capital. That hill is a nice defensive spot, also a good launching pad in case they attack us not GCA and they can connect the dyes. Then again, they are very unpredictable.

OK, a short reasoning on why this turn was played the way it was (see the topped report thread for moves made, please).

There was one issue that was heavily discussed in the chatroom: E_T's suggestion to build a city close to the iron SE of our city grid.

Arguments in favour of doing so: securing our iron as soon as possible, preemptively deterring any CDG's hostile actions by demonstrating we do have iron. (E_T, feel free to add more reasons - this is what I was able to dig up from the chatlog).

Arguments in favour of following the original plan: an iron city would be near useless production- and growth-wise for at least 6-10 turns (no good tiles to work), the iron would not get connected and thus actually useful/usable for at least 6-10 turns - which is exactly the time we will have our NEXT settler ready in Apolyton. That iron is too far away from the CDG's territory to be actually claimable in any way - the most they can do is to camp their exploring warrior there... which they can do with our city there or not. OTOH, Incensity (the city on incense) will be able to actually build something immediately, thanks to the improved tiles in the Apolyton radius.

Thus, it was eventually decided (all three Consuls were present and unanimous about the issue) to stick to the original plan and our Settler was sent to the incense site.

Better watch out with CDG now. After attacking that barb, our warrior is now on their border... they might not like it.
